It's been a few years since I researched this subject, but with my tt on order & plans for EVT700 package it's time to revisit it. I have a double set of Blinder Extremes on my M6, and I can attest to the success of that system personally on several occasions! But technology changes and I would like opinions on what is now the best laser jamming system.
I also have a hardwired V1 radar detector and have nothing but praise for that. I will certainly get another one as it has save my a*s dozens of times (in fact the only times I've ever been ticketed have been driving the family SUV while arguing with my kids...).
Thanks.

Escort just recently came out with a combo system that has regular radar plus front and rear laser jammers. $1500. I don't have it but have been very happy with my Escort 8500.

Laser Interceptor supposedly has the best laser jammers.

After doing extensive research on this the escort 9500ci IMHO is the BEST thing going since porsche invented the 911. It has so many features, such as weekly updates, photoradar, speed trap warnings etc, in addition to the laser shifting protection. You really need to read about it on their website http://escortradar.com. It is expensive but so is your TT. It has saved my buns from laser many times.

In real world testing one seems to come up more often that not, that being the laser interceptor. escort shifter zr4 does not hold a candle to the laser interceptor.

I've read and heard a lot of favorable reviews on the LI (laser interceptor), but would probably lean towards the latest escort 9500ci only becuase it is an all-in-one package from a reputable company.

You need to use a jammer in concert with a detector for full/proper coverage. If i had the LI i would probably pair it with a Valentine 1 - but the cost of a custom LI/V1 installation may be prohibitive to some.

The Escort solution its a straightforward installation which you can uninstall and put in another vehicle at a later time. Moving a V1/LI installation isgoing to be a mess.

I looked at the Guys of LIDAR page and the data are strongly in favor of the Laser Interceptor. The LI website offers several models, including ones with even stronger diodes than the one tested by GoL... If money is no object () I'll probably get a 4-head stronger model, though that is getting pricey and I don't know how much $$ will be left over after the Porsche dealer is done with me (maybe I should have bought used?)... A lot cheaper than those ceramic brakes, though!

By far the best is the ASPJ (Airborne-Self-Protection-Jammer) jamming pod ALQ-165 from the F-18 hornet. The F-22 has even a better unit. Both work on the street but are illegal and dangerous for such an application.

not to mention the drivers requirement of wearing lead boxers when operating that thing.

You have the perfect combo. I use the M25 xtreme with cheetah remote on my tt along with V1. The V1 stays on my right sunvisor with its remote on the steering wheel...also mounted there is signal light from M25. Getting the M25 wires to the battery compartment of the turbo was a bit tricky but worked with no body-metal holes to drill. Two holes, however, needed to be drilled in the plastic splash pan underneath in front for the two transceiver wires.

I have an Escort 9500i on the left side of the dash by the door and this unit is worthless when compared to the V1. I used the 9500i in the rear window for awhile and there too, it was useless. V1 technology is far ahead of Escort with radar detection.

Come on with this best thing, the radar alerting capability of escort alone is substantially less when compared to the V1. Plenty of independent literature shows that for the last few years. I have both detectors in my tt, and the V1 sensitivity far exceeds the escort. And as for the other features you mention, they're just useless-PR crap except for the laser jam. I don't know about the escort laser jam capability; some say it is good. But if escort is only as good in laser jamming as I see for radar deflection, I will stay with my M25 xtreme which shows up fairly high in independent testing and is a lot cheaper.

Why don't you tell me how you really feel? (Please use a different color-purple would be nice)

Nothing beats the $399 Valentine One in radar and laser detection in the under $500 radar detector category.

Nothing comes close to the Laser Interceptor laser jammer especially not the Escort Shifter ZR4 that comes with the almost $1600 Escort 9500ci. The Laser Star laser jammer is also a POS which failed miserably that somebody mentioned in this thread.
