Owners with Kids

How many of the owners on this board have children and daily drive their car? I am seriously considering a TT as my next car, but want to hear opinions from fellow owners with children. My kids are just about 11 and 8. My son is a little small for his age of 11, my daughter is average for her age. I sat in a friends car at a GTG recently just to get a feel for seating position, but didn't have my kids with me to put one in the back to see. My wife has told me that when we're ready, I can get a 2 seat car like the GT3 (or the elise that we drove a couple of weeks ago), but I'd really like a car that I can throw the wife and kids in if I want/have to.

I searched the board, and found a couple of posts that kind of referenced kids, but nothing with any detail.

Comments? Concerns?

Thanks,
James

I have two boys. Not the best car for a daily. Bat bag for baseball just fits in the back seat, when seats are folded down. Trunk is a joke. I have a M3, that I drive daily its a much better fit for family. The Turbo is built for one thing that's going fast.

I should have specified that this won't be the only car we have. We have an Acura MDX, plus hopefully her MK car that's provided to her for free.....

put 7 an8 yr old in car. Problem I am 6'6" so I have to pull seat up a little to let son sit behind me. Top down he loves it, top up he wants short trips only. They both prefer the Rubicon.

I have a 6 month old girl and a 3 year old Husky. The dog runs for cover when I start her, and my baby is forbidden until I buy a porsche with stock power.

My intentions were to use it as a DD, but it's too easy and way too much fun to mod, the kids get everything else from you, buy this for your self and enjoy it!

Two boys, 9 & 11, fit just fine although the older boy does better in the front seat. For short trips it works great, anything longer or more stuff we take the Cayenne.

Smile

Back seat is a joke. My kids when they were smaller didn't even enjoy the ride especialy if more than fifteen minutes. Now my kids are 14 and 18, the 14 year old love the sole attention she gets when we ride together (she calls it speed bonding) and the 18 loves the fact that I let him drive it. (with me next to him of course)

I DD my car on nice days, taking my 3 year old to school with her car seat in back. My kids (3 & 2) are much smaller than yours but car seats take up a lot of space. Without a front passenger there is plenty of space in back. Never loaded up the entire family, we have other cars for that.

at their ages, do not even consider putting them in the rear seats. It will be very uncomfortablle

Can't even pretend it's a family car, even with small kids..the back seats are for inanimate objects.

I stick my 4 year old in the front with the specific porsche seat and air bag off for short sunday runs. Its too tight in the back IMO unless you find a good fitting seat thats slimmer than most (a few exist) but after 5 or 6 years of age I feel its too small back there.

Suncoast sells the seat and air bag shut off device.
