997TT 2WD conversion question

So what I really wanted is a GT2 but I'd rather spend the money on a TT and then use the leftover to mod and then buy a Cayenne. So has anyone tried converting the car to 2WD by taking out the front drive shaft? And how much weight would that save? My friend did this to his Gallardo and he really liked the conversion but I can't seem to find posts on this in the 997TT/GT2 forum.

A lot of people have done it on the 996 turbo, so I'm guessing it would be the same

^^^It's NOT the same with the 997TT. Porsche came out with an all new drive system for the 997TT. You'd screw up your car big time if you tried taking the front shaft out.

I think the 997tt has smarter PSM system,it won't let you run 2WD,If you remove the front axle and drive shaft it won't let you go.

I noticed that when I dyno my car on a DYNO PACK(require wheels removal). It won't even go without wheels. The people there told me they dynoed couple of 996tt without any problem,so thats make big different..

Don't mean to doubt you but 3 notches???
I have heard you can do that to the 997.2 C4 cars by pulling on the eBrake 1 notch, but never heard it is possible on the 997TT.

I guess no one have done this poor man's GT2 conversion yet.
