What would you consider as a better handling car than your 997 TT/GT2?
What would you consider as a better handling car than your 997 TT/GT2?
I have driven a lot of different cars, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota MR2, Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes from 3 different generations and a couple of Porsches so far... I would say so far my 997TT is the better one in handling and power hands down. I am sure that a lot of you had experiences with other vehiles that you could see as better handling than the 997TT or GT2. I heard folks with WRX, STI, EVO's Lotus Exige/Elise... claim a better handling on the track with better lap times which one would you prefer over your current 997?
The Lotus Exige of course - being the lightest by far and having lots of downforce from those front and rear spoilers, plus the semi slick tyres don't hurt!
Generally less weight = better handling.

Hey it's your list to choose from!!
If Jeremy Clarkson can get in and out then you should be ok!

Is there an "all of the above" option?
I feel that a good driver can jump into most cars and drive it to 80% of what that car can do but a good driver can only drive a GT2 to about 60%. So, if you can push your GT2 to about 85% of what it can do, there are few cars out there that can hang with it.

It is an amazing car indeed!!!!!! i just wish it was a bit roomier, i almost bought one actually it if wasn't for my big @ss.
I tell ya, My Evo MR with swift springs and bigger sways and a nice alignment from west end in Gardena handled like a monster. Much more confident inspiring than my Turbo. However, I might not have the ball$ to push the turbo to the limit vs. the Evo so ultimately who knows?

the GT2 and TT are far a part but you can get close via alignment and suspension upgrade. it was found that the C4S is a better handling car than the C2S in many tests; that being said, i am not saying that the TT is a better handling car but it all depends on the driver and Track.

GALLARDO SP OR LP560 are awesome handle cars.
Also AUDI R8.I drove R8 and my TT(No suspension mod) on same track and R8 way better.
I had an 300hp modded EXIGE S before,it handles good because it lighter.Quicker in the corners, but not really fast on the straight, not my piece of cake...

Interesting question. I voted Gallardo but IMHO the poll is "difficult" because:
There are so many aspects to "handling," corner feel, vertical movement (all 911's rear end does this more IMHO) & lateral movement in corner, chassis feedback, road feedback, steering feel & feedback, etc. So to pick one overall vote is of course possible but doesn't tell the whole story.
As an example of the cars I've driven (Gallardo, F430, Corvette, Tesla/Lotus, GT2, Ford GT), the Gallardo is near the top, but its steering is heavy and feel insulated, and the chassis & road feedback to me could be better, like the F430, or our Turbo modified with Bilstein.
But if I have to pick a couple, it would be Gallardo or Ford GT. F430 and Tesla of course are up there too. No surprise.

Now that there have been multiple opinions shared, let's look at some measurable evidence.
Sport Auto magazine has already tested almost all of the cars listed above around the Hockenheim short track (except the Corvette ZR1). I've listed the results in order of time.
All of the cars listed below are bone stock (no modified suspensions). Some of the cars come with R-compounds which give them a large advantage in handling and one of the cars come with runflats which gives it a disadvantage. Regardless, here are the results:
-997 GT2 - 1:08.4
-Carrera GT - 1:08.6 (Sport Auto 01/04)
-F430 Scuderia F1 - 1:10.3 (Sport Auto 07/08)
