Got 2 problems.

Hi guyz,

Need some advice. Whenever I drive my turbo hard especially, there will always be a sort of grinding noise coming from my turbos. I have gone to the dealer and they have told me it is fine. Whenever the car is being driven hard the turbos will get louder, so they say. However I really find the sound awkward. I mean it sounds like the metal fan is barely scraping against the surrounding. The sound is loud enough to be heard from out of the car if you pay close attention as well as inside on idle. The sound comes especially when the rpm is low and I am barely applying the throttle. Is this normal? It is driving me insane.

The other problem I have is that when ever I slightly tap on the accelerator, especially at higher gears with the rpm down low I can see that my rpm needle is fluctuating. It does not increase in a smooth manner, but it only moves up and down ever so slightly and you really have to focus on the needle. This started happening after I had a maf replaced due to dirt getting through the intake.

Well these are the 2 annoying things I am facing right now. The dealer has told me there is nothing to worry about. My car has about 41,000kms. Could it be that my injectors are starting to get old and is causing the needle to ever so slightly fluctuate? Need your help guyz. Thanks a lot.

Totally ABnormal, find another dealer if you can. If not, try hooking a handheld scanner up to your OBD2 port and look for any codes. If something is awry a code should pop up.

WTT997 is infamous around these parts
Hi Jassim,

I have that "grinding noise" at high speed cruising, my agent also told me the same thing, came from the turbo fan. You changed the MAF before? You ought to clean your air filter regularly to prevent that from happening again. Have you upgraded your ecu before?

Hi Ron,

Yea the dealer changed the maf because of dirt getting through the filter. So I guess that grinding noise is normal yea? Do you also hear it at very low speeds in low rpms at night when it is very quiet? I have not upgraded my ecu. Will be jumping on that very soon though, and thanks again for the wonderful tubi

Thanks,
Dealer charged me around Dhs 3300, which is around $900.00. This included labor and everything.
