My new damptronics, GIAC flash and FVD Exhaust!
My new damptronics, GIAC flash and FVD Exhaust!
As you may recall not too long ago I added the TechArt aero kit and HRE wheels. Apparently modding is an addiction to which I have succumbed...much of which has to do with all of you...I really need to stop going on these forums!!
GIAC Flash:
I can't even start to tell you how upset I am with myself that I didn't do this sooner. Everyone told me that I would kick myself after doing it and boy were they right.
The change in the car is incredible and as advertised. It's so much more fun to drive now! I'm sure there's more to it , but basically it just appears to crank up the boost very early so the car feels much quicker.
In any event, the car feels like a rocket powered missle now. If you haven't done this mod yet, you are out of your mind. Seriously...don't be like me and wait and worry about your warranty. I was lucky in that Alan at Jack Daniels promised to stand by the warranty but frankly even if you don't have someone like Alan to deal with near you...get this mod. It's outrageous.
In traffic it feels totally stock. But every other time it just feels like you have 1,000 HP on tap.
I have noticed a definite drop off in gas mileage. I'm at around 16MPG now. Yes I mash the throttle more than before but not enough to have that much of a decrease in mileage. However, for a few extra bucks at the pump it's well worth it!
Damtronics
This mod was one that in my head (like the short shifter) kept rolling around saying "why the heck would I pay this kind of money for a new suspension when the car comes with a fully functioning suspsension already"?
Well...like the other mods...this is something that transforms the car. Now it truly feels like an exotic supercar. Besides the nice visual effect of the lowered car...which is pretty sweet...the change in the ride is stunning. Like others have stated before me, the jittery feeling in sport mode is gone completely.
On poor roads when driving slowly, there are bumps that I would prefer to not endure, but it's not that bad even with my back injury and it's well worth the trade off for every other moment driving the car.
I'm not sure how else to describe it but it's just totally different than stock and what I would have expected a true sports car to feel like. At speed you feel incredibly planted and the car just feels "right" now.
This is a must do mod if you have the resources.

Now to the exhaust...
FVD Brombacher
As I have posted in a few other threads I spent a great deal of time going out to hear exhaust systems. I can't thank everyone enough who took the time to spend with me and were generous enough to take me for rides in their cars.
While all the popular exhausts were terrific in their own ways...none were right for me and my ears. I heard AWE, Cargraphic normal and loud and Tubi. Each person who had these exhausts was in love with them so I really don't believe you can go wrong with any of them. They are all different and you really need to hear them before making a decision.
With input from NYAMG and TTDude (thanks guys) I reached out to Rhonda at FVD. I can't say enough positive things about her. She was responsive, professional and could not have treated me better. And trust me...I can be very critical!
I ordered their new "sound" version of their system with the 200 Cell cats. They went on yesterday and all I can say is "wow"!!
This is definitely the closest exhaust I have heard to an air cooled car. While driving home from the install on a short 10 minute drive two different cars pulled up to me to give me the thumbs up...a modded M5 with it's own sweet exhaust and some ricer-type car as well.
So I went up to the Bear Mountain car show last night and the attention this car and exhaust got were unreal. It was shocking to me that so many people would walk right past incredible muscle cars to gawk at my car.
There is a deep growl at low speeds that just makes me smile...then you hear the turbos spool up like I have never heard before - all followed by an amazing barratone roar...I wish I could put into words how great this exhaust is. It's perfect! The quality of construction puts the stock exhaust to shame.
Plus it's a true quad exhaust so you don't need to buy tips!
If anyone wants to hear it I'm more than happy to take you for a ride. In my opinion, every single turbo on the planet should have this exhaust. It would increase our resale value 100,000,000 percent.
Porsche should pay FVD a fortune to put these on every new car!
Thanks everyone!!

Wow! Congrats and great write-up. I'm too am leaning towards FVD and GIAC when I get around to it. So my car will be almost identical to yours when done. Damptronics, RSS sways, FVD exhaust, GIAC tune. Can't wait. Stunning car.
Thanks guys!! Yes it was last night at Bear Mountain!
Looks like mods removed my link to the video...sorry...I didn't realize you couldn't do that. Now I just need to figure out how to link it directly...
Yeah BBYWU...I was surrounded by vettes and Mustangs...only one other P car there. But people walked right past some hot 60s muscle to go to my car...amazing...

I miss the Bear Mountain meets. Such an awesome location and even better atmosphere. I'm glad to see there's some "exotics" making appearances these days. I used to go so I could check out all the old American muscle.

Justin,
I am thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the exhaust and all of the other quality mods. You are right about the exhaust, IMHO it is exactly what the 997TT should sound like...
Thanks for all the kind words and keep smiling! If I had a turbo like that I would have a perma grin!!
That car is celestial!!

You know what. I really was not expecting the fvd to sound that good. Those are 200 cell cats and you still here those turbos spooling like crazy. Man that is just what I want actually. My tubi is a bit quiet
But still has a very sweet sound. Just not loud enough for me. Good stuff FVD.

Justin, your car sounds INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You now have the sound to match the looks, your car is one of the
nicest looking Turbos I have ever seen, WOW is all I can say.
I'm so glad you love the exhaust and weren't disappointed with the music
