Picking up a V1 next week. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I have the V1, I wouldn't get it again. Too many false signals. 9500 or k40 is the way to go.

9500IX is by far the best!
I was a diehard V1 user for 10 years and it was sold after a week with the 9500.
I just hand mine from the window and plug it in, I use it for all my cars.
It never beeps unless it should, detects every camera!
I use it in downtown Chicago traffic and love it!

+ V1 but you also need to address the laser issue with something else - jammers or blinders.

I have a V1 and I think it's true what they say about the arrows. Once you have them it's hard to go back to a regular radar detector.

I also like the fact that you can update your V1 to the newest technology for a minimal cost without having to buy an entirely new unit.

can the 9500 detect both front and rear like the V1?

Anyone have experience with the cordless Solo 2?

I turn off the X band in my Valentine and it reduces a lot of supposedly false alarms. Can't remember exactly how I did it off hand, but here's one site with some info:
http://valentine1.com/lab/MikesLabRpt3.asp

I've read (not 100% sure) that X band is no longer used in many states, California being one of them. The few times I knew my car was radar "checked" by a cop, the K band alarm did go off.

Valentine 1 with Laser Intercepter jammer. I am on my 3 or 4th update for the V1. LI was rated best by Guys of Lidar. Expensive and a pain to install but well worth it.

Here are my experiences.

K40 - had one on my Cayman S... (the older model calibre w/ laser dif) .. I am not even sure the laser diff worked on it. I haded that there was no LED, I had to slam on the brakes.. then stop and listen for it to tell me what band it was... not cool.

Also had/tried to have- a k40 (newer model) put on my 06 Gallardo. Had issues w/ the rear losing sync. After 5 trips back and k40 helping.. had it removed.

Passport 9500CI (Installed in the Gallardo after the failed )- I love this radar detector. I am getting one installed on my 07 997tt later this month! Gps features make the difference. Ability to auto lock out false alarms based on location is awesome. I also love the fact that I can update the radar detector's red light locations and firmware via a usb cable. Other nice this is that in auto mode it can auto-adjust the sensitivity based on your speed (it does have gps). Oh and one added bonus. In the Gallardo, there is no digital speed readout (i know.. ridiculous) I have mine configured to show me my speed !

V1- I dunno, some people swear by it.. to me it's just a really sensitive radar detector with no Intelligent GPS features etc. At a minimum you would have to atleast pair it w/ the Laser Intercepter jammer. Just the V1 solo would not do the trick in this day and age.

Personally if you gave me the choice between a Free V1, a Free K40, or a 9500CI at full retail price, I would still pick the 9500CI. But that's just me.

my choices

New hardwired K40 and 9500ci are tied... everything else is just BS ticket confirmation...

I have both escort 9500xi and VI both pointing out front. No comparison, V1 is considerably better and with computer setting, you can adjust the sensitiviy of V1 where you like. I have ordered the new escort "Redline", they say that the senitivity of this new unit for radar/laser even beats V1. I doubt this statement but will find out in a week.
