ALCANTARA Seats, good or bad option?
ALCANTARA Seats, good or bad option?
I just recently sold my beloved turbo to a fellow member this past weekend and have started my search for another turbo already
Found one with ALCANTARA seats and wanted to see what the overall feeling is on these? I had them on my 4.6 X5 several years ago and they felt/worn fine, but would they become an issue during resale?
Heres a picture and they are sport adaptive seats with ALCANTARA inserts (i guess there was some type of confusion that these 2 options couldn't be combined from my search).

I started searching as you were pulling away! The sad thing was that same night as I was driving my beater a Carrera S pulled up next to me and raised and lowered his wing on me a handful of times
The current one I am interested is pretty much the same car (black/grey) w/ a $150K window sticker. I swore I wouldn't buy another black TT due to the work you have to put into keeping it clean but there is another color I can live with other than white and my brother already has that color
Well hope you are enjoying your Turbo as much as I have been enjoying my intergra

my only concern is durability; how it will wear and look with time?
had it on my 850R, looked terrible after 10yrs/70K mis (frayed areas by "thigh" & "butt")

I saw once a GT3 for sale with a worn out alcantara steering wheel. Seats were fine but the steering looked as if it saw a war. The car had only 5000 miles. I guess one could always replace the steering wheel but it would be harder for the seats!
So every time I read this thread, it makes me wonder.... Why did you sell one 997TT to purchase another? I am sure there was a good reason.
Like most people on this forum I just get bored of cars really fast. Another member offered me fair $ for my car and I felt I was in a financial able to use that $ and what I have saved to purchase something newer 08-09 and I could start my mod frenzy again!
I actually am in love with your car and its one of the reason why also, I want a white now OR if you are selling let me know

I just bought a car with an Alcantara interior, and I really love it. It feels special and high end. If you have sweaty palms (i.e. if the cars you own have shiny steering wheels and shift *****), you will probably wear it prematurely. I always have clean, dry hands for some reason (I have a 40k mile bmw with perfectly preserved leather on the wheel and shifter), so I don't think this is going to be a problem.
