Short shifter!??

Does a shorter shifter make sense? If yes which one would be preferable?
Some advice please.

Yes it makes a lot of sense.

I was totally against it since, let's face it, the car comes with a perfectly good shifter...

Then I got it and it's fantastic...expensive but worth it. I got the Porsche OEM one...

It's really terrific.

I'm sure someone lives near you with one that will let you try it...

Texas911 is infamous around these parts
It should have been standard on the TT.

I like the short shifter a lot -- I've only driven the OEM. It's much more efficient - I highly recommend it!

For the price it's a Great mod. You feel And know exactly which gear your in and being able to add another mod to your list is always good

I ordered my '08TT with the SSK option after having driven two different TTs with the standard shifter and the SSK. There was no comparison. The SSK just feels more precise and sporty. I agree with Texas911. It should have been standard.

Throw one more vote in there for the OEM SSK. Throws are crisp, almost gated-like. I've never driven one with the standard shifter, so I don't have a comparison point, but the throw effort is a bit hefty, esp the 1-2 shift. But shooting through the gears afterwards is truly a pleasure.

I am a bit bummed now. The tech at the dealership told me not to get it because it messes with the synchros... what the heck!? you all love it and i don't got it.

OEM for sure, for around $300, you just can't go wrong with it!

I have it and really like it.

B&M makes the finest quality shifter for Porsche regardless of 'branding' by the factory.

And we sell it every day for $199 (list is $299). Of course, you CAN buy the 'Porsche' branded product if you like to spend more, and have the 'tower' intact, but the B&M does the job over and over and over, and there are thousands of Porsche owners quite happy with it.

If you are concerned at all that a service advisor is going to dock you points for something like this, either switch dealers, or go with factory parts only though.

----> BumperPlugs.com, click the Order tab.

And order it tonight or tomorrow, and mention 6speed, and there's a $20 refund after your order hits.

You can still get it...I just added mine a few months ago! Go to another dealer and get it installed...it's really great.
