RWD 997tt???
RWD 997tt???
Does anybody know if it is possible to do this mod like we did on the 996tts?
I think it should be even easier (with the an electronic module or something) since this is a different ECU controlled 4wd... Something similar I think exists for Audi S3's and in the past I remember such modules for GTR's (R33-34)!
It would be great if we could turn the car into RWD with a switch, wouldn't it???

What are you saying re mapa?
I was AWD! I just wish I had done it back then, because now it doesn't look that I will ever be able to do such a mod.... that's what I meant anyways....

When did you EVER pass me??? I had been waiting for you for 10 months until I finally sold the 996...

BTW, since your car is ready go and pass the 997 and I will be there in my old car to pass you afterwards...
It is a cool idea, but why would you want to do that?
You will lose the performance balance in the tt if you simply make it RWD without physically changing many other parts. You will at least need new suspension setup, wider rear tires , new traction program, different aero setup etc.....
Yes. It is possible to make a tt RWD,but it is not gonna be easy or cheap, probably end up cost you more than the price difference between your tt and a used GT2. Unfortunately, AWD doesn't work like 4WD which you can switch between 2WD and 4WD easily. It is especially technically challenging for rear egnine cars.
Maybe in 2029, Porsche would offer a 911 turbo model that can transfrom a TT into a GT2 and back with a touch of button, in transformer style.
The magic TT/GT2 button should be able to switch between AWD and RWD, load different traction control programs, load different electronically controlled suspension setups, load different electronically controlled variable pitch aero parts setups, load different engine management system maps , load different brake-bias setups and a million of other fancy things on the go.
Wait...it almost sounds like a Batmobile!

I am a friend of Skandalis and want to race you
Just joking.Kind regards from Istanbul.

He is looking for the ability to switch between 2wd and 4wd. The reason not to buy a GT2 are numerous; $50K price difference, back seats, etc. I am also interested in this even if it would mean removing the drive shaft similar to the 996TT.
I get that, but I dont get why. What do you gain with that? THe AWD is rear wheel biased anyway, and you get less traction, with no weight save by switching awd off, so you are slower. Why would you ever want rwd? Buy an old GT3 for days you want rwd.
The turbo is all about speed in relative comfort, the GT cars are for track use. I just dont get it. Then again I dont get the Bentley Continental Supersports either. Why would anyone make an over two ton car that was built for comfort and make it lighter by striping away all the comfort, why not take a lighter car in the first place???!!!
Just trying to understand... It was like one time an W211 E55 AMG owner tried to convert his car into 4matic. I dont know if he ever succeeded. I would have just bought an Audi RS6.Anyway, good luck with the conversion!
