I dont have a 997TT (yet) but have driven all 3 of my Porsches through the winters here in Philly and have been fine. As long as you know what your doing and respect the road you should be more than fine. Only comparison i have a TT in the snow was my Mitsu Evo on snow tires (AWD + turbo + manual trans = FUN!)

Great thread on so many levels !!!

The blizzard of '09, I left the hospital around 530pm and there was not a soul on the road, everyone went home early.

I was flying in Lubbock in 01 when they had a big snowstorm. A few of us from Minnesota were driving around just to watch the accidents when we realized one of these idiots were going to run into us. For over an hour we were never out of sight of an accident.

Those are my winter tires. They are great. I have heard the Nokians are possibly better, but you can't find them (or at least could not last year).

I used these last winter and have them on my car this winter again, obviously worse performance than summer or all season tires in good weather, but in the snow they are fantastic.

Drove on them last winter through all snow we had with no issues, and setup a mock auto-x at Floyd Bennett Field to practice drifting, lotta fun. Great snow tires.

Will also have to drive mine in the snow. 996TT was excellent with 18 inch snow tires. Also M5 and E55 with 17 and 18 inch tires respectively. 19 inch sounds bad...

Is the correct winter tire size for the 997TT
235/35 R19 front
295/30 R19 rear vs 305/30 R19 in the summer?

Is it possible to fit 18inch wheels or are the brake pads too big?

Kip,

I have 18" wheels with Michelin Snows on my '09 turbo, so they obviously fit fine.

Sizes:
F: 18x8; 235/40/18
R: 18x10; 265/40/18
