Anyone found a decent skid protection plate for front lip?

Just thinkin'....that thing is going to take a beating, and it's painted. Yeah, I know...I know. But I can paint it a dozen times if I need to.

Anyway, years back there were numerous skid plates out there for the 996. Anything thin and functional for the lip on the 997 turbo?

I have these on my car and they work great. Maybe ECLOU has a template he can provide you. For that matter, sounds like a need that needs to be met. Wonderful business opportunity for you if you can get ECLOU to release his patent.

had clear bra "wrapped" underneath splitter on mine; protected paint somewhat. prevented paint from "flaking" off. skid plate a better solution

I think you just look at it as a consumable part. Order several front lips from Suncoast Porsche, paint them, and they will be ready to install when the lip gets damaged. For minor damage on the lower side, a little quick sanding and touch-up paint with a brush looks fine as long as you are not laying on the ground looking at your car. You could spend a lot of money and get the Cargraphic or TechArt noselifts. I have the Cargraphic lift and it helps a lot - but you can certainly argue it would be cheaper to just replace the front lip every few weeks. I don't like clear film because it get roughed up and is not easy to smooth out.

Yes I do have one under my Techart I spoiler and it does work as advertised, judging from the scraping noise I hear occasionally.
RSS/Stuttgart Performance fabricated and installed the plate for first "Gotboost" and then me, back then as a custom made one-off piece.
It's beautifully done and RSS used "reverse rivets" (I think that's what it's called) to attach it so that the rivets are flushed with the plate surface.

$50 for ABS skid plate? I don't know how and haven't seen the piece myself but sincere compliment to Rottec. Every thing they make seem to be EXTREMELY reasonably priced. Are there pictures of the Rottec skid plate? Made of ABS plastic also?

Mine is about 1-2 inch across and looks like a boomerang. You could see glimpse of it on this picture.
Eric you might want to consider something like the Techart or Rottec lip (if fit and finish are good). The stock lip over time may become irritating to look at as it's thin and therefore a little weak and flimsy looking.
