idk what all the fuss is about. the car felt more like a fast sedan than a sports car. it's huge for one thing, everything feels bulky from the seats (look like ejection seats from an f-14), to the dorky switches to switch it to "race" mode, to the dash, not to mention the boxy body panels. then u drive it. i selected 1st, then as i usually do, just stomped on the gas and looked ahead but nothing really happened at first. the revs build up so slowly between 2k and 4500 rpm i had to look down at the tach to see where i was. clicking thru the gears the car built up speed pretty well but nothing exciting like my tt or like a scud. more like a super sedan like the m5 or e55, actually come to think of it it reminds me most accelerating in my g55 except that the g55 sounded better! then, again, as i usually do i stomped on the brakes as hard as i could at about redline in 3rd gear. mush. no initial bite whatsoever and it's almost like there is some kind of filter between the driver and the brakes which seem to come on gradually. back down to second gear rip then stomp on brakes, and again, i couldn't even really feel much braking power until about a second's worth of lag.
the worst part about driving the car was how much it wandered on uneven surfaces. maybe it's the wheel size or somethin but that gt car will pick up every bump and send the car in all directions. the craziest part tho is unlike when any 911 wanders, the steering wheel doesn't bounce around as much in your hands so it's like just the weight of the car jiggling around and the driver is left to wonder what the hell is going on.
i kno my amateurish review won't get me published for any of the upwardly biased car mags but suffice to say i got out of the car and my leg wasn't shaking at all like when i drive my modded tt really hard or when i nearly crashed a scud at my home track because it was so fun to push around i found the limit (or slightly beyond...ahem) and somehow brought it back, so i know i was bored by the car. throw it in the odd vehicles bucket with the mitsu evo or maybe dodge prowler. kinda cool stuff on it, but who on earth would want one except for azn high school or college kids??? (i'm azn too, btw) oh, and if yur really really into japanese sports cars just get the last NSX, which was a true sports car, and see if you can drive it like senna did in that youtube vid. SICKNESS.
ps. having said all this tho, the gt-r in the gt500 class of japanese touring cars is one of the coolest looking race cars on the planet tho but furthest thing from stock

Agree with you on the GT-R in stock trim.
I did drive Freedom Autosports' 650WHP Cobb set up GT-R with modded everything, full carbon Aero and that was a very solid drive. Not similar in feel to an upgraded 997TT but respectable. I did like the solid shifts and boost early and linear to redline. Will say that even with a bunch of extra Hp and body stability stuff, it does still have a very heavy car grand touring feel. Think they just turned a 1:40 or 50 something? at Daytona 24 hour course.

What you guys said was pretty much my sentiments in driving one, not a bad car, just not for me. It's just so sterile, no character or anything, no raw feeling etc, I guess if your into that sterile drive and techy stuff then its the car for you. I've never understood why some owners say you don't feel the weight and it drives like a lighter car, I mean it carries its weight well but you can still tell your driving a 4K lb behemoth vs say a Viper, or Vette, or Porsche etc.
Different strokes for different folks.
Some people would want a car that goes incredibly fast for great value, and is relatively rare. I see many more 911 turbos than GTRs in my area, so if you wanted something more exclusive and head turning, that's the correct choice.

maybe it wouldn't be so rare if it wasn't so ugly? just a thought...
my main point was the entire package, looks, driver feedback, ability, was a fail for me, but you do bring up price which i agree is probably the best selling point but to guys who own turbos, who really cares?

Well, it seems to me that you already have your mind made up about the GTR, so...it's not surprising that you walked away from it with a pretty negative impression. There's really no need to justify your choice of a 911 Turbo since both are outstanding cars in their own right.

It does pretty good with more power and tuned suspension.

Pretty cool video. I will have to say I never see gtr's on the road but if I did I don't think I would get the same wow effect as I would if I saw a 997tt or lambo or something like that. Not say its not a good driver just the wow factor is not there for me.
