No more build slot for 2010 TT?

Is this true? I understand they cut production, and they start making TTs. I was told the only car avail are those ordered by the dealer. I am playing with the idea of getting one, but would prefer to build one from the ground up. Is this is a mix of facts plus some hype build in from the dealer? It is nice to hear that they are all sold out. Maybe US economy is getting better.

its not that the economy is better but rather they are producing less vehicles.

Cannot confirm it but heard the same. Also they are not sold out because they went so fast but because they produced far less. I believe 987 Cayman is also on hold for a while.

Not hype, just the reality of production being dramatically cut. I've spoken with my dealer on this, so I am very confident in saying so. There are still a handful of '09 Turbos out there that can be had a killer prices.

There are/were open slots to spec for the Feb-July window, but they were very limited. I was one of the lucky ones. Found a few others that got build slots, but it really seems to be very limited. Given the over supply of '09s still working their way through the system coupled with the continued poor economy, the production numbers are way down. also, porsche is well aware of the hit the brand and resale values have taken during this downturn, and it looks like they really do care about fixing it (via lowering production to get supply and demand in balance, hopefully even to skew to having demand slightly outweigh supply, not to the extent of an F car, but hopefully directionally). Also, the ones that are being produced are being sent to other geographies where the profits are better given the dollar. A rumor I heard is that they won't be building any base turbos, just S's, until the next model. I think this is wrong and would expect when the next production window (Aug-Jan) comes out in summer, you will see some more base turbo slots - the ultimate number depending on the above factors.

If you want to build 1 the only option now is the turbo s, they come out with the S as the last version before the next generation. My dealer has 2 2010 turbo's non S cars at port but any new orders will be only for an S. The S will have ceramics and a power package similar to X50 standard along with more stuff but the order guide is not available as of today. He also said there will be a new 997 out soon and they have cut back the 997 production as well but haven't made any announcements. The S will probably be cheaper than a regular 2010 turbo when you add in the standard items that are currently options.

I am not sure about this. When I bought mine on Aug 31st, there were 10 coupes left. Out of those 10 only 3 had sports chrono, 6sp tranny and LSD. I know this for a fact because I had the dealer pull up all inventory.

At this point we are only talking about used cars...

Cheers!

Anyone here know they did the same with 996—only producing 996 Turbo S at the end? I am not sure if I ever seen a turbo S around town. Any good guess on when we will see 998 on the street?

One of our clients cars just got in yesterday. Local dealer has no more production and all but one of their '10 turbos is sold... We are excited to start tuning!

What's really possible is handfuls of '09 turbos that are not yet punched and in dealer inventory. When I started my hunt in May of last year for an '09 (last of the GT1 block), I reached far and wide, and used dealer sites, AND a dealer or two as well. Though they were able to 'see' all other dealer inventory, we still found a few by making some select calls on other cars, and discovered a few still on the back lot, under wraps, not punched and not on inventory systems yet.

Whether those still exist is hard to know for sure, but I got very lucky too when I nailed down my '09 as the Porsche incentives went full tilt, and got the deal of a lifetime.

IF you can find close to what you want on the ground now in an '09, the deals are still great.

Good luck either way.
