Pre-Purchase DME advice / over-revs
Best thing to do is see how many hours have gone by since the over-revs if they are in range 4 or above. Porsche will CPO a car if no over-revs in last 250 hours. Also, these are friggin Porsches and if there are no CEL's and no issues then the car is fine. This has to be the most over-hyped and overblown topic of know-nothing forum members. If a Porsche engine is junk if its been over-revved then I guess all those pre-2000 cars are all junk because Porsche never thought to log them. Also, ANY car you buy that the manufacturer doesn't log over-revs is a culprit so definitely avoid EVERY other car in existence.
My word, get a PPI and if it checks it's good to go. The GT3 uses the same block and revs considerably higher.

Yeah, the way most people on forums talk about overrevs you'd think any 997 with single rev above range 3 should just be scrapped at a junkyard and sold for parts. Meanwhile, every 993 in existence could have 4 undocumented money shifts in its history and nobody would ever know.

Because I am beyond sick of the DME purists that seemingly "run for the door" on every car that is above a level 2 or 3. Here was the read out on my car before I purchased it.
you can see from my signature that it was a modded car. The previous owner had a big money shift during the no fly zone event the year prior to selling it to me. He also liked to chase the redline and drove the car hard.
He disclosed all of this before I even sent the car for inspection.
I had two separate ppi's done plus I spoke with the builder. The car had impeccable service history and every receipt back to day #1.
I wanted the car due to its options color, and mods.
A year later.. zero issues, zero blow by, zero leaks.
These are Porsches, and are meant to be driven hard. Certainly not as hard as my car was perhaps, but mine is living testament to the fact that these engines can take it and still perform reliably.

But seriously, most of the evidence I've seen is that if a money shift is going to take your car out, it happens pretty much right then and there or very shortly thereafter. Something like this: (warning: not for the faint of heart)

Wow, a Range 6?! I hope you park that in a fortified underground bunker before it explodes and takes out the neighborhood.

The local Porsche dealers have bulletins about me for all of their techs.
Yes, a money shift (typically) happens immediately as in the video you posted.
My car had plenty of hours logged after it happened, so I gambled.
Should note that I had the car scoped and dissected by two places.
