Im currently in the market for a new car.My last car was a zo6 that had headers and exhaust and was loud as can be and sounded mean. I know a flat 6 will never sound like a NA v8 but is there any exhaust out there that can make it sound like a real car ? I test drove an 07 turbo coupe the other day and the car was soo quiet. It just turned me off from car not to mention the numb steering feel. I have read that there is suspensions for the car and that fixes that issue. What exhaust is the loudest but at the same time dosnt drone. My zo6 had the flap that i could control the volume. Is the 997tt for me ? Or should i go for the GT3? If anyone has been in the similar situation let me know what you choose.

TT is an all weather, daily driver, its meant to be softer, quiter and still plenty fast. if you want more sound, more steering feel out of the box your looking at the wrong 911, think GT3 or GT2.

 

Loudest with minimal drone? Don't we all wish! Maybe some muffler bypass pipes?

I just got my TT so I am def not an expert but based on what you wrote, perhaps 997TT isn't want you are looking for. I tend to think 997TT is a luxury GT car and perhaps not designed to be loud. I am sure you can get an aftermarket system that will get you better exhaust note. Regardless, I doubt 997tt will give you the same feel / sound of a muscle car that you may be looking for.

 

The Z06 is a different animal from the 997tt great idea going from the Z to a 997. Are you the same ZBOSS who crashed on the meadowbrook parkway racing a black Nissan GT-R only about 2 weeks ago??

I have driven the Corvette Z06. I think if you do what I have in my signature, exhaust and Bilstein, you will be very happy.

 

Put Cargraphic Race on, upgrade the suspension, then flash the ECU and raise hell in the state of NY. Easy!

To the OP Simple modifications could get the desired feel you want with a DD reliability package. But coming from a z06 which is rwd I would defiantly advise to look at the gt2 or even gt3(less modding capabilities out the box)

 

Of course it won't sound like a V8!

But get a GT3, slap a SharkWerks 3.9 conversion it with all the trimmings including exhaust then take her up to redline while driving through a tunnel then get back with me! Also make sure the exhaust is a bypass.

 

If you had a Vette then go for the next step, a Viper. Then after you crash that you'll be ready for a Porsche. That's pronounced Porsche-aaa, just in case you didn't know.

The Gt3 is clearly a more raw car . It will not have the power of your vette but will run circles around it as well as the Turbo in tight corners.
On the other hand the Gt3 isn't really a practical daily driver . The tires aren't made for the rain and the front spoiler has a very low angle of attack with inclines . The turbo is luxury ... however a few mods as a Tubi race exhaust and you will forget all about the Z06.

Can't go wong with either car.

I felt the same way when I purchased my 2008 997 TT. Though it took more than a few mods the car is completely different now. Suspension, Exhaust and ECU will make the car a beast!
