why does the GT-R continue beating the 911 Turbo around the track?
I'm not sure about the powertrain... Because I purchased the 6yr/72,000 mile warranty (bumper to bumper). I'm not really concerned with a number of miles that I'll never drive in that given time period.
I also believe the warranty is inline with other Nissans.

Ultra Reliable, Warranty as strong as steel.. Im curious??
We buy Cup Cars that are beaten and GT3's with 10k all track miles.. whats the worry with Stillen's GTR??
^ lol! I went to reply on that thread...
Seems like nobody likes the Porsche vs GT-R debate.
I only made that comment because of the asking price and the way it was most likely driven.
I don't think it's any surprise... Which would you pay more for - a cared for stock car, or a highly modded beaten track car?
Sure it depends on the mods. Warranty is out the window (on pretty much everything that matters - but prices on replacement components are coming wayyyyyyy down). But I'd rather pay $65k for a slightly used GT-R, instead of $80k+ for a tracked one.

There have been two overall points made in Nissans ad campaign :
1) The claim that it can beat the Porsche at the ring .
2) The price .
Number 1 has already been discussed ad nauseum on this thread . The only point to even mention it again is that it truly was a central focus of Nissans advertising for the car . Had it been presented as a street car or some other type of vehicle then those topics may have been discussed.
Number 2 --has not been discussed much. Earlier in the thread I felt that the price value would give Nissan the pricing win . I am not so sure now.
If one examines the resale value of an equally priced Porsche in 4 years all he has to look at is the 2006 997S which is still retailing for nearly 55K on a 90K car. The GTR 4 year price is unknown. I believe that once the car loses its warranty with time or even faces a voided warranty , it may drop the value . I also believe that a 4 year old GTR is too hard to price .. so in that regard there is more speculation with an unknown car Vs a benchmark car . The 997S (which is the equally priced Porsche) has tremendous resilience in retaining value.
So bang for the buck value ? With the Gtr?
I simply don't know.
My speculative vote goes to the Porsche.
I also look forwatd to seeing how well a 4 year old Nissan runs the track with a 4 year old Turbo.
At this time .. all one can do is guess.. but given the early problems and even the current European recalls , as well as the strict reigns of the manufacturer .. there are just too many issues to validate the 85K risk in my opinion.
In short -- the Gtr is by no means inexpensive . In fact --long term it may even be more expensive than I first thought.

One thing to consider, since when did the Nurburgring become the end all when deciding which car deserves the nod in regards to performance? What's not to say a certain car wouldn't perform better a Luguana Seca, Fuji Speedway or Buttonwillow etc. I know it's a legendary track, and is hallowed ground according to most Europeans.......but just look at some of the times and the variation in time with the same vehicles posting some pretty significantly different times: GTR for instance posted a 7:26, 7:29, 7:38, 7:54, and 7:55

Too big, too heavy, and too ugly.
And this is coming from a Nissan guy (3 Z32's (technically 4), 1 350z, 1 Sentra SE-R, and 1 Murano (still in the fleet)).
As far as signing paperwork, just buy a used one from a private individual...

WOW, love the banter. If a GTR is all you can afford, drive it and enjoy it. HOWEVER, "everything" is being compared to a PORSCHE (and always has been) and there is "NO" comparison. We already know that. Thank you nissan owners and I hope there are no recalls in your future.
I really dont think you need a crystal ball to see what will happen outside the warranty period.
If you can get your hands on a copy of this months Motor Magazine (Aus) and read the letters section, there is a very unhappy Gtr owner who wrote how he was told by Nissan that the replacement of all the disc rotors on his car was not warrantable.
He went further to add how his car had done only 20,000km of country work since new only a year or so back (and not track work or city Ks he added) and was in total misbelief how Nissan totally blew him off after a great deal of arguing his case and left him with the 18 grand bill.
No goodwill...no nothing.
Thats right...read it for yourself.
The mag also had an article on the gtr vs new 2010 gt3. You may need some tissues tho.
Jasper wont believe me when i say this but a customer of ours with less than 500 miles GTR is in the shop with electrical issues and he was telling me how his friend got stuck in his driveway with no reverse.. Ill try to get more details.. You get what you pay for..
Just got an out of warranty service on my M5 on a good will.. once again the Germans stand behind their products..
