Car & Driver 997.2 Turbo 0-60 2.9 seconds!!!

I'll give credit where credit is due, the 997 TT is an amazing car and it may be the A to B car road of the year. But it isn't as raw and take as much skill to master as the ZR1. That being said the supposedly crude Corvette did lap one second faster, despite RWD and manual shift .....so its a track terrror!

Easier to drive or not, I'd still take a PDK Turbo over a ZR1. But it's subjective.

+1 PDK over GM product
just sayin
You mean dynoed at 538whp, I was talking about hp at the crank (minor difference lol) but I was mostly surprised at the top speed being 196(which is porsche's official claim) when Ive seen Mk1 997TT run 202mph with some tailwind.
If the PDK proves to be durable under power, it would be easier to think of a modified 997.2 Turbo or Turbo S as a cheap Veyron instead of an expensive 911! 9 second 1/4 mile times on a car you can let your wife drive and get groceries should be pretty easy!
Interesting tests. I guess it confirms my findings that the new 997.2 TT makes much more than the claimed 500 HP by Porsche. When I posted the dyno results from our tests, there were some who did not believe us. From what I have found, the 997.2TT makes ~525-530 HP/TQ stock.
Even though I've haven't had a lot of seat time in my new Turbo, I have to concur that the 997.2 TT is very powerful. I don't think that I will ever have the opportunity to experience it's full potential outside of the track. And the real beauty here is to have all of this power wrapped up in a 3.8 engine that sports great gas milelage and displays such new technology in a 6 cylinder engine. What a car.

I wonder if the 3.8 DI will be capable of the 800 plus RWHP the Metzger GT1 based engine was capable of? The DI should make running more boost with the higher compression easier, but it awaits to be seen what the limits are. I also wonder why the 997 Turbo does not have a true torque vectoring rear differential when even cars like the X6 M do.

Again...anecdotal.
+1
And the Turbo gets better than 3 mpg at top speed
PDK is the medicine these Turbo cars have been needing all along, not to bring "fun" to the table in terms of good ol driving with a true manual gearbox, but for enabling the true Porsche Turbo potential to be brought into the spotlight again.
Just imagine a shift with boost staying on. drool
I bet true sequential shifters will be the next big thing on the tuner market for 996 and early 997, at least a half step in the direction towards having PDK.

Veyron has ran as fast as 2.5 0-60, and 0-60 is a function of weight, driver skill and traction....its really pretty meaningless other than to sell Magazines, it only gives a general idea of the performance story...especially in AWD cars with dual clutch gearboxes and launch control....
