194mph was rev limited. ZR1 was drag limited over 200mph

I'll give credit where credit is due, the 997 TT is an amazing car and it may be the A to B car road of the year. But it isn't as raw and take as much skill to master as the ZR1. That being said the supposedly crude Corvette did lap one second faster, despite RWD and manual shift .....so its a track terrror!

On that note, the ZR1 isn't as raw or as difficult to master as my GT2. Neither was my 720rwhp Z06. Plus, they both had traction control.

Easier to drive or not, I'd still take a PDK Turbo over a ZR1. But it's subjective.

You mean dynoed at 538whp, I was talking about hp at the crank (minor difference lol) but I was mostly surprised at the top speed being 196(which is porsche's official claim) when Ive seen Mk1 997TT run 202mph with some tailwind.

If the PDK proves to be durable under power, it would be easier to think of a modified 997.2 Turbo or Turbo S as a cheap Veyron instead of an expensive 911! 9 second 1/4 mile times on a car you can let your wife drive and get groceries should be pretty easy!

Even though I've haven't had a lot of seat time in my new Turbo, I have to concur that the 997.2 TT is very powerful. I don't think that I will ever have the opportunity to experience it's full potential outside of the track. And the real beauty here is to have all of this power wrapped up in a 3.8 engine that sports great gas milelage and displays such new technology in a 6 cylinder engine. What a car.

I wonder if the 3.8 DI will be capable of the 800 plus RWHP the Metzger GT1 based engine was capable of? The DI should make running more boost with the higher compression easier, but it awaits to be seen what the limits are. I also wonder why the 997 Turbo does not have a true torque vectoring rear differential when even cars like the X6 M do.

There is one anecdotal case on another board about a tuner already blowing the engine with minimal tuning. The details are anecdotal, and there hasn't been a discussion about what was being done to the engine during the tuning process, but according to Weissach engineers, their DFI tuned engine revealed a limit of 550-570 hp on engine dyno before failure.

Again...anecdotal.

rbb1991 is infamous around these parts
Something to think about. I have a copy of Car and Driver, November 2005. The featured car was the Veyron. The 0-60 time for the Veyron: 2.9 seconds. 2010 911 Turbo PDK=

Just imagine a shift with boost staying on. drool

I bet true sequential shifters will be the next big thing on the tuner market for 996 and early 997, at least a half step in the direction towards having PDK.
Always good stuff from you, I hope your right w/ you mod prediction. That would be Awesome!

Veyron has ran as fast as 2.5 0-60, and 0-60 is a function of weight, driver skill and traction....its really pretty meaningless other than to sell Magazines, it only gives a general idea of the performance story...especially in AWD cars with dual clutch gearboxes and launch control....
