white smoke
white smoke
I started my TT yesterday and when I turned the key I heard a "pop" (like the electric pop you can hear when you connect the positive battery connector to the terminal on the battery and it sparks) and then the car started and filled my garage with white smoke. Smoke smelled like fuel and not electrical. Drove to work just fine. After work I started the car and CEL (solid) appeared with msg to see shop. Car is going into Porsche on Tuesday. Sound came from left engine area. Any thoughts? What about a sensor on the cats failing from something electrical. Porsche told me the smoke was a normal finding (I've never seen this before). The car has stock exhaust, BMC filter (has been on 1 day with 13 miles of driving), flash, and BRV's.
Porsche said it is not uncommon and not to worry about it, but I never heard a popping noise so your problem could be something else that should be looked at.

I was told the smoke was a normal finding as the car sits overnight and oil pools in the cylinders and is then burnt off upon starting the engine. The CEL was a loose fuel cap (???) and it was reset for $68. All is well.
