tubi install questions, re: tips
ok, it's done. wow, what a trip. I just got my fabspeed black chrome tips today.
One concern I have is that the heat shield on one side is very close to the tip housing, I think my Tubi is sitting a little higher than stock. Did anyone here remove a little of the metal frame on the heat shield where the tip mounts?

I did however notice when i did my tubi instal that the muffler is not dead horizontal and was later told this is very normal. To get it dead level you can loosen the headers and turbos to get some adjustment and then adjust the muffler position if it bothers you...tighten back up when muffler is straight etc. The down side to not having it dead horizontal is that you can see looking at the rear of the car from a few metres back the muffler sits a touch lower one side....a little untidy for a P car imo.
DMA,
You should have any issues with the exhaust being " higher then stock " Your heat shield might have got caught on something when you were reinstalling the bumper. I would recommend double checking that and you can also just bend up the shield to gain more clearance of the tips

These thicker cat flanges cause all sorts of unwanted issues such as: they leave the two studs that hold the turbo heat shields into place with hardly enough thread for the nuts to obtain proper purchase. Also the turbo heat sheilds have to be bent into a new position (another fitting trick). Also, do something about those woefull muffler straps. They are an absolute bugger to join together to get the spring and nut on without deploying a few clever tricks which most people would never be aware of. They also should be made a bit wider as they are really too thin to take up an equal position in the body brackets.
The muffer sitting a touch skewiff is also a dissapointment as is the omission of any heat shielding. The muffler should have that heat shielding. This is a P car not a bleedin Daiwoo.
These issues may not be so much of a problem for those seasoned Tubi installers but for first timers these issues are truly unacceptable for a product like this.
TUBI can do a lot better and should do a lot better!! Especially given the price that is paid. If it was half the money then one may well accept these glaring deficiencies.
Least of all, provide some form of instructions and a couple of gaskets along with some quality nuts and studs for the turbo housings (and not just 8 crappy copper nuts which are no good anyway) which as you should know require replacement on most occassions. Either that or have a note informing the installer to get them before starting the job.
You guys are major distributors of this Product so please use your position to get the product right for those of us who have bought it to install ourselves.
Thanks.

Hey Mr Champion, whilst your here can i kindly suggest that you perhaps take the trouble to have a wee chat with the manufacturer (TUBI) and have them fix those thicker cat flanges back to the correct thickness. Either that or supply some longer studs and instructions on how to bend the turbo heat shields upon reinstall.

Damn right about that one Ruf!!
If only i knew then what i know now i would never have touched it.

And having the Europipe on now has sure gone a hell of a long way toward helping to sooth the previous wounds. The difference is chalk and cheese....as i'm sure you would know.
Tubi sure has a hell of a lot of catching up to do thats for absolute certain so im hoping someone with the power can do something about that.
And for their own sake because they certainly lost me as a customer.

I can't believe that if I want to lower the tips a bit I'll need to loosen everything(!) that I just buttoned up. The strap clamps that hold the muffler are totally inaccessible and extremely tight, The only way I could get them installed was nuts facing up, and I needed a megaton of force to put them on (bolts 5mm longer on the strap clamp would have worked much better). This means bumper, heat shield off. Bah. I do wish I never went down this road, this is a royal PITA. I am going to see if the quads will fit out of the box but if they don't they're going back.
