Suspension Advise - GMG Spring/sway VS KW V3
Hello guys,
I have been thinking about upgrading my suspension for sometime now, and stilling try to find the most cost effective way to do it. I bought a set of slight used champion/HR spring but decided to against it because it lowers the car too much and soft. I am not made of money, but I am willing to cut down my lunch money to buy the more expensive ones if it's that much better.
I have 2 packages in mind, GMG Spring and Sways package ($1500) and KW V3 ($3500), maybe sways for another 700 bucks.
The car will be used mainly on the street and fun back roads, may see some track time on a small track near by. I don't really care about the pasm system, and I will probably not adjust the V3 everyday after it's been set to my like. I like the car to have a firm/stiff ride with no floaty feel.
What's you guys' take on this?
Thanks alot!

My reccomendation would be to call Casey at TPC and discuss your objectives and budget and let them help you with a short and long term plan. I have installed the TPC Stage 3+ package on my car and it has truly transformed my car. They know what they are doing and I'm sure you would be happy...they seem to be suspension guru's!
GMG sways and springs without question. I initially had the above setup on my car , it ran flawlessly at the track and never sagged. Then I decided I wanted to be able to corner balance my car with bilsteins........never really panned out, car sat too low and was actually faster around the track with the gmg setup....I actually went back to the springs combo, it's that good.
Agree with Casey - Sway bars are a huge change. I initially did bilstein's only and it was better than stock. Adding sway bars to the bilstein's was a much bigger difference compared to bilstein's from stock.
I'm currently now running TPC stage 3 and am very happy. Few know more about setting up porsche's than these guys.

The TPC stage 3 setup is probably one of the best around, but overkill in your situation. The GMG setup is solid. If TPC was closer I would surely use them.

Dog bones and toe links, allow easy alignment when the car is lowered, that's it! Like others have mentioned, there are only a couple of shops who really know suspensions, TPC, GMG, FL(formerly)...what all these shops have in common is that they actually race and win, not just slam cars with coilovers, 20s and plywood stereo boxes, never to set foot on a racetrack.
KW is easy to setup. The independent rebound and compression is simple to adjust. In fact KW gives you basic settings to start. Then take your car out and see what works for you the best. You want to find that perfect balance of squat, bounce back, etc. You have to dial it in for your driving. The KW is far superior to a set of springs. I am running them on my 997TT. As TPC said, sway bars really help balance out the car and give you more steering response. AWD cars have understeer and push in turns. So you want to get more oversteer out of it. To much oversteer and you become a RWD drift monster. So doing the front and rear are good. With my KW V3 I run our Agency Power bars which are the stiffest on the market. I like a stiffer rear bar then front. Read more here - http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/a...7+sway&x=0&y=0

The KW Variant 3 coilovers are currently used by a lot of our customers that are using the vehicles for both track and street applications. If you're wanting a nice, planted ride - you can't go wrong with KW!
I think we can help you with the price thing! You have a PM coming your way!

No prob Abby, having owned a 996C2, 996TT, and 997TT, I have been able to really help customers understand suspension. I have used Bilstein PSS9, JIC Cross, and KW in the Porsche cars so I can really identify what a customer requires. We have done work with Motons, H&R/Eibach springs and there is a class for everyone. It really takes owning a PCar to understand the PCar.
