Turbo S finally arrives!
Turbo S finally arrives!
After many months of anxious waiting, the last two weeks while it sat in port being the most difficult, I picked up my 2011 Turbo S last Thursday.
Michael Semersky at the Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, IL did a great job of helping me spec the car, keeping me informed of its status, and the explaing the basics once the car arrived ( so many buttons..). He even showed my wife a cute little 2009 red Boxster with only 3000 miles in it.
We left the dealership with 2 Porsches
. I'm sure it was all a coincidence.
Driving the S is almost a surreal experience. My last car was a ZR1 Vette, which delivered power in a brutal, traction challenged way. The S is completely different. No drama in the launch. It's like lining up a jet aircraft for takeoff, with the afterburner kicking in at about 3500RPM. Total control the whole time. I can't wipe the smile off of my face. I'm sure that the novelty will wear off in a few years...
I had the Passport 9500ci with laser shifters installed by the dealer, and in two days it has saved my bacon twice. The display is mounted in the former ashtray and the control buttons are next to the shifter. I highly recommend the setup, but suggest that you have someone who is knowledgeable do the install. Lots of opportunity to screw up. Michael told me of a do-it-yourselfer who cut into the fiber optic cable for 12V power.
I've attached a few shots of the car, which is GT Silver with a Brown Natural Leather interior.

Wow! Congratulations! Even more cool that I also ordered a GT silver TTS with a nat brown interior from Napleton Porsche in Westmont! Now there'll be at least 2 GTS TTS's with nat brown interiors prowling Chicagoland!
You're a lucky man my friend! Enjoy the cars! And we need bigger pics!

Ok, I'm a total computer/picture boob. My original pics are high quality, 3 meg files, which won't upload to the forum. I uploaded thumbnails instead, but these show up as small images.
How do I do this properly?
Thanks

If you have Photoshop, reduce the size of the image to 8x10 and save as jpeg with lower image quality -- until it is under 200K (or whatever 6Speedonline's image limit is).
Oh, great car!
