For a cash deal, the cost is about the same for both (cab, manual). I have a 2003 C2 Cab now, but the CPO is done in November - the car is a DD and I need absolute reliability.

I've driven an 08 Turbo and will drive a 2011 C4S next weekend.

Anyone have experience with both? Any opinions?

Besides liking the newer rear end lights of the latest model I would say for the Turbo. Not unless you want PDK tranny! I say just take a test drive in a current C4S cab with PDK and see if you like it. The PDK trannies in the non turbo models tend to shift quicker than the Turbo since there is less of a load! Either way by the time you are done figuring out what you want on a new C4S cab out the door with tax and licensing it will put you back about $120K+. You could very easily pay that for an 08 Cab Turbo. And still have enough cash to upgrade the rear lights to the current model, if you savy that.

I say test the cab first then the Turbo. Then it will be apparent that you will want the Turbo. Trust me and many others on that one.

I don't think any question the better financial move is the tt. Drive both and see what you like. As said, unless you need PDK, I think the tt. I went through the same process (cabs and coupes) 6 months ago and bought a 07 tt. Very happy with choice.

Cab and manual either way then it is the Turbo. Like I said above first thing I would do is update the rear lights. Out of the box the car has more than enough power. So don't know if you would want to fart around with modifying the engine. Some of us are crazy enough to do it.

FWIW, I was going to a buy a new C4S last year, because I like new, but after driving a TT I knew I would NEVER be satisfied with the C4S even as good as it is. There's just no comparison.

Bottom line, I bought a used TT for slightly less and love every minute of that decision. Good luck in deciding.

that is the exact reason why i bought a 996 turbo, i could of had a 997 carrera s. The way i looked at it was that i could always keep a turbo in the garage even in 10 years time.. but with the carrera s its the kind of car your lease and trade in for the new model every 3 years.

that being said, the interior is beautiful in the 997 models, but the POWER and handling of the TT just make it a winner.

My car only has h&r springs and i find it to be amazing in the turns. i can only imagine what it could handle like with coilovers and sway bars.

So back to your question - is the purchase short or long term? if its long get a turbo! i mean come on your debating between a turbo and a c4s both being in the 997 range!

So this counters the general advice about "buying the latest model you can".

I think you guys are right about the turbo - I was concerned about depreciation when the next model comes out for 2012, but there's nothing I can do about that unless I wanted to wait another 12 months and get a 2012 c4s (wouldn't be able to afford the 2012 turbo - heck, the 2011 turbos are way north of $150K).

But I don't want to wait and I'm justifying my decision by telling myself that my 996 will depreciate much more quickly than either 997 (2008 turbo or 2011 c4s).

only if you need PDK or are opposed to a "used" car should you buy the c4s

find an awesome CPO 08 and u will love it

I really don't want an automatic. There may come a day when I need to drive one, but until then, I like to row.

I also don't really care if a car is used - as long as I've got a CPO. That really worked out for me with my current car - two ac compressors, one coil pack and a few sensors later - the CPO made life easy.
