Custom dyno tune? Would it be beneficial?
Would it be more beneficial to do a tune with a compnay that can do a dyno tune or is a basic plug and play flash going to be just as good ?
^^what TJ said. But also depending on who you're dealing with, will likely be a lot more $$$ as well. Probably not worth it unless you have lots of aftermarket bits and are putting out a lot more power over stock.
If all you have is a standard after market 200cpsi exhaust and filter (BMC or K&N) then you probably don't need a dyno tune. BUT, if you have ANYTHING ELSE it's worth a couple $100 to get the right tune.
If you have someone local that you trust I would say go with whatever tuner they support, no matter who it is. Local support is way more important than who the tuner is. And 'local' is relative as I drive 3 hours to see my guys but it beats sending the DME back to Germany, ala Ruf.

Unless you're testing a lot of aftermarket parts, probably not worthwhile. Just an exhaust and a basic flash, no need imo.

Nobody can do a custom dyno tune unless it is the owner/holder of the Software tools. There is not live dyno tuning. You can however do datalogging. You would put the car on the dyno, make a pull and log the car. Email the company the file, they would make changes, and then send back a new file.
The reason this is barely done is. The 997TT files from most tuners have been used thousands of times so they are dialed. Ideally you have 4 real companies that can write files in the USA, 1 of them is south of you in FL. The rest of us are resellers and any shop can do the datalogging/dyno if they have the tools.

EVOMS writes their own files and has a dyno. Todd at Protomotive writes his own files and has a dyno. Switzer writes his own files and has a dyno. FVD writes their own files.
Softronic does write their own files and allows others to use their flasher tool to load files. I might be leaving someone out like APR, GIAC... But those are the main ones.
Save the CUSTOM dyno tune for when you have a fuel system, big turbos, and really need it. Everyone has already dialed their ECU files for the stock 997 Turbo with basic mods.
