Which Cargraphic for my turbo cab ... ??
Which Cargraphic for my turbo cab ... ??
I spent last evening reading the various posts regarding Cargraphic exhausts. Quite a few exist over the last few years.
I'm a bit confused ... which is not news ... about the various "models" of CG and what to expect. Yes, I've viewed a bunch of uTube runs of CGs on TTs, too.
Let me ask this ....
I have an '09 cab. Had the FVD (two in fact) on the car and sounded great, except on deceleration where there was an unpleasant 'blaaaaaaaaat' sound that FVD, my Porsche shop could not figure out. Never heard it on another turbo, and even when the units were sent back to Germany, they could not reproduce the sound. FVD was really great about helping me out, too.
Anyway ... I'm interested in hooking up an exhaust system on my car again. I had a brief ride in a TT with CG (not sure which unit) and it sounded fine, but we did not do the 2500-3000 rpm deal to see if there was any drone.
I'm interested in those who have CG on their cars .... especially any cab owners ... and what their experiences have been. Oh, and which unit did you have installed. BTW, I'm not interested in installing any headers. Just the exhaust system.
Thanx in advance. I appreciate your help and recommendations.

I an an 08 TT Cab and love my Tubi Street exhaust. Perfect sound.
If you're only interested in CG. I suggest the CG loud.

I had the Cargraphic race exhaust installed last week and could not be happier.
My personal opinion Cargraphic race is way better then Tubi race.
Having auditioned both bought the Cargraphic race.

Plus, how can you pass emissions with this CG Race system installed? Spending $600 to remove and $600 to install the OEM system seems pretty stupid.
Also, I don't suppose there are any horse power gains .... I'm told there the EGTs are lower. What are EGTs?

From what I gather, the stock cats are removed and the system is hooked up without cats. How can this work and be legal?
This depends on the state you are in, some states do a smog check by sticking a probe into your exhaust and some you pass by hooking up to you car via ODBII and if no CEL errors/faults are shown you pass.

If you look at the secondary O2 bung of the exhaust in the picture it looks
like a small pipe sticking out, this helps is preventing the O2 sensor from sampling the full flow.
This design prevents the check engine light (CEL) from coming on and I pass emission in my state.
I will therefore be not taking off the exhaust to pass emission and don't plan on replacing it ever.

EGT stand for Exhaust Gas Temperature , high EGT are bad your car.
Huge power gain due lower back pressure and reduced EGT, talk to a tuner on the pros of going cat-less.

Thanks for the explanation.
Last time I had emissions on my '96 C4S, I believe they hooked it up to the computer and did not sniff the exhaust. I'm not completely sure that they did not sniff as well, tho .... as I was not paying complete attention.
I'll have to check with the emission folks and others that know what goes on here in CT.

I'm a bit leery of running my car without cats on the street. The penalty is pretty severe here in CT (so I am told) for doing so. So, the CG race version without cats is not part of my agenda.
I drove a TT coupe with what the shop said was the version for the coupe (mid version, less than the loud version) today. I liked the sound. No drone. Nice sound. Not obtrusive. Better than stock for sure.
Porsche shop said the version for the cab is less loud. So, I guess there are 3 versions of the cat/can CGs .... Loud, Coupe, Cab?
Not sure if this is true. Anyone know about this?

Get a hold of Mike at RSS -----> they are the go to guys for Cargraphic in the USA. I have the loud and its not really 'loud' at all, I could probably go a bit louder in fact and I did not want something obnoxious.
Go with the loud, you wont regret it.

There are 3 versions of the Cargraphic Exhaust System that come with 200 Cell Sport Cats for 997.1 Turbo cars...
1) CARP97TET TÜV Version = not much louder than stock but with performance gains
2) CARP97TETR TÜV Sound-Version= Medium Sound
3) CARP97TETS Super Sound Export Version= Loudest, Most Sporty (loudest option but by no means "loud" or annoying)
