Hi TXTurbo. I would love to hear what your ownership experience has been so far. I am going back and forth between the PDK and Manual on a new one. I really thought I wanted a manual but I think everyone probably obssess' about the ttS after a test drive. It pulls like a locomotive. Have you had any mechanical issues, or concerns or feelings of missing a P manual tranny? Thanks.

Re. exhaust of Turbo S, I believe it's the Cayenne Turbo S that has modified exhaust, not the 997.2 Turbo S.
I've listened to and driven every Porsche turbo cars, including GT2, and 997.2 Turbo. They ALL share one thing in common: all have very docile, quiet, and boring stock exhaust sound. I do not expect Turbo S to be much different.
While 997.2 Turbo sounds better than 997.1 Turbo (deeper and slightly louder, less hair-dryer whiny), it doesn't come remotely close to a good after-market system in "excitement"
and loudness. Just listen and you will see what I mean.

Be VERY VERY careful about buying a PDK car if you are a manual die-hard. Get several test drives before jumping in as this is a mistake you don't want to make. There is no question about the overwhelming acceleration advantage of a PDK turbo, but for the majority of the time, you *might* find PDK to be somewhat of a boring car to drive, especially if you "want a manual." You have to ask if the acceleration advantage is worth the lack of driving involvement (for some, YMMV, etc.).

While it is less entertaining than a MT car, it is definitely worth it if you get stuck in traffic a lot.
On the other hand, what truly bothers me about the PDK is the limitations on power holding (torque holding).
Again, if you plan on modding the car with any ambitious power/torque targets, please don't make the mistake I did, go with a manual tranny!

Seriously, someone will get it sorted sooner or later so you can hold more torque.
In the meantime you'll just have to live with 'merely' blazing acceleration.
I have owned a 997.1 6sp,and agree that it is a wonderful and more intimate feeling to accelerate and go through the gears manually
The tts simply foregoes that in order to get you wherever you want to go....faster

I am driving the PDK every single day.

That should not enter into the equation.....whether you want manual or PDK for other reasons is a different question
Also if heavy modding is your objective that's another discussion.

To some, my remark will be heresy but having owned a 2007 Turbo Tip (an anathema), a 2008 Turbo MT, and now a 2011 Turbo S which I have had for 3 months I wish I had not sold the 2008 Turbo. Not a novice when it comes to Porsche ownership as I have driven Porsches for a quarter of a century and the 2008 Turbo was the most enjoyable of all. Cannga speaks the truth; of course, I am a manual die-hard. I wonder if the new MT Turbo uses the same transmission that was coupled to the Mezger.
