Any info on this 977.2tt exhaust?
Funny, a few years ago when I was complaining about drone/resonance in my 996TT, no one seemed to get it. It was like everyone seemed to think I was a piker ...
So Steph... when's the EP for the 997.2 TT going to be available!?

Correct TT, i had the simgle can tubi but in saying that i was informed by an extremely reliable vendor and installer over your way that the two can tubi had more drone than the single can. Its a shame Champion/Tubi cant afford to extend the same level of customer service Rhonda at FVD has offered and i think that speaks volumes in itself. If they did id be parking my tubi right back where it came from plus a lot of time money and agro to boot.
In so far as FVD's gratuituos customer service, as good as it is im not convinced that is a panacea for drone. As i said earlier one should be realistically base ones expections upon P's own efforts with the stock system and work from that.
Re EP1, i would also agree one should be very careful with what one may wish for in terms of further increasing the exterior sound levels of the car without driving one self crazy in the process, afterall you can only be in one place at the one time (either inside the car or outside the car).

AlexM, sorry man, I feel bad bc I recommended that fvd system to you, the moderate system I had didn't really drone at all. Interesting about the power loss.
TT dude, we're on the same page. If loudness wasn't an issue for me, the fvd loud version probably made the most power.
I also think the fvd quad tips may amplify the tone to a certain degree.
I've had about 6 different systems on my car, they all have their +'s and -'s,
right now I'm digging the EP1. maybe that should be a separate thread?
Very interesting about the 997tt.2's ecu, adjusting to accommodate the exhaust, negatively ( perhaps to protect the wet sump engine from grenading by pulling back power/timing?). I truly think the 997.2 will be known as non-mod friendly in a couple of years.
Rhonda, fvd and mm speak for themselves, I would refrain from rolling in the mud, let your product do the talking. There is no upside to bantering with general population in threads from a business/vendor point of view.

Call it noise, drone, resonance or any term that takes your fancy...one way or the other one will need a set of earplugs or be prepared to go half deaf just to get the car to sound like it should. Not what I would consider enjoyment personally for a car of this caliber and expense but each to their own on that one.
Now, If it were an el cheap rice burner then it may be a different story.
Wise move to wait for now until there's a convincing solution available. I understand there is one not far away now that will be livable.

Couldn't possibly be as bad as mine. Today being another live demonstration. And it could get worse (if that's at all possible) if ever i got found out over the costs involved in changing 6 exhausts out to get to one that is satisfactory. It could get very ugly
, but not really if you know what i mean.

"...Also the Ruf exhaust is a nice exhaust with a great sound , no drone and decent HP gains..."

So yes, no worries. We all choose our own depictors. I think this discussion got off track a little since the whole point of my intitial post in this thread was to choose an exhaust by sound, not by claimed power gains.

Look what stef@europipe recently posted about Ruf's exhaust:

Yes, read Stefs comments prior too. Possibly political between competitors of a like mind. Im not sure if Ruf manufactures their own systems?
Its funny how power gains and enhanced sound are an expected combo with most customers purchasing AM systems yet amidst all the claims in reality its rare to get both.

And then there is that long running debate over what is resonance and what is drone. Agreed drone is a less palatable condition that resonance. But to have drone resonance is involved. An exhaust system with zero resonace and zero drone with a great sound inside and out, and with a tangible power gain is the right system for this level of car. Maybe we can agree on that?
, no need for a stage 2 really.Hope to shoot some videos of our 997.2 TT sport exhaust this weekend.
I believe the stock 997.2 TT has some serious drone at low rpm in sport mode.

Hey guys,
I have a FVD system with cat bypass and I am 100% with TTdude on this one. It's one awesome exhaust system; I absolutely love mine. It sound so aggressive when you hear it from outside yet no drone in the cabin. I drive mostly with my windows down, just love that turbo spooling sound.
I have experienced drone in my previous cars before, the worst one would be Honda S2000 with 70mm system. It makes your head spin around 3000rpm and you will feel like you just drank a cup of ms109 after an hour of driving. I spend 4+ hours driving my turbo with FVD exhaust yesterday, totally enjoyed it.

No worries TT. Opinions always vary which is why I tend to overlook them and go with the facts where available. The dictonaries definition of drone and resonance should clear that one up, hence my comments to your post.
Yes Alex. That is the problem with the 997tt exhaust as you well know. Being able to amp up the exterior volume without blasting yourself clean out the drivers window in the process is a real problem for this engine and the car in general.

The stage 1 is already great
, no need for a stage 2 really.

Does this mean I can order a stage 1 for the 997.2 TT now? If so, how do I place my order?
