Boost Recirculation Valves

very funny Larry
It's pretty funny reading the forums tonight. One thread has everyone talking about how particular and **** they are and to prove it they list what type of Doctor they are to indicate their attention to detail. This thread talks gets a little heated and people pull out the Attorney card to lend credibility to their posts. Can't we all just talk about cars and be nice?
BTW, my '07 TT came with aftermarket BRV's and I do like the little sound that it makes. Never drove a TT with the stock BRV's so can't compare the two.

Also funny how some people ask you to explain what BRV's do, the benefits you associate with having them, then tell you that your explanation isnt correct and that they know because they have knowledge and expertise in the english language

glad you are enjoying your brvs as much as I am mine
i was just trying to talk cars when instead of an explaination or responsive post, there was a rude, non-responsive post. your post implied that i can only comment on things if i state that i have expertise in that area. so, to summarize, the first complaint was that im not an expert, then you complain when I volunteer an area in which i am an expert. its obvious that you guys are friends and all, but everyone has to admit that that first quoted post was rude and not just talkin cars.
i must apologize though. i shouldnt have stooped to that level. also it was not my intent to get this thread so off topic. i hate that.
also, i have to say that this is a funny thread. really, i hope nobody is taking it seriously!

I wish this thread had a "like" button like facebook. Anyways, I installed the brv's this weekend and pictures are soon to come. I noticed a steady boost level, increased turbo spool noise and "blow off" like sound.
I'm still waiting to see empirical evidence that a valve with a piston and spring design "helps hold the boost consistant in the higher RPM's without leaking or bleeding boost off" as one tuner claims.
Actually, what I take seriously is the vast number of members here who swear by these devices, the number of vendors who carry them, but the lack of physical evidence that they actually do anything other than make noise.

Hey Bob, I value your opinions as well as all the information that you share on this forum, normally I would agree with you in stating that most vendors are in it for the $$$$ and sell items that promise but dont deliver.... however, after having them on the car for a few weeks, I must say that they do make a small but significant difference in the way the boost feels when you are between shifts (manual). For me that is the only difference, they dont make any more noise (maybe because I have a BMC drop in filter which creates some noise) or maybe for other reasons, however, I dont care about the noise. They do make a difference in the way the car feels that is for sure, and although I dont have a dyno or a computer hooked up to show graphs I am satisfied with the product and the results from it.
I am not saying that this will make your car faster, but simply that the boost does feel like it stays up in between shifts, thats it.

You can call me anytime. The BRV's have a purpose like any other part. That is why EVO makes them, Forge makes them for all the Audi FSI cars, and why we made them for the 997TT. The design of the stock ones is much like the 996TT valve with a softer spring and diaphram. This can flutter or lose boost pressure. The aftermarket ones use a stiffer spring and piston design to not drop boost and to have the boost response be quicker by the spring rate used.
Is this something you are going to notice like a exhaust? No. Its an efficiency thing. Building a car is about the puzzle together. It is also about personalization and doing what YOU like. Not what your "tuner" tells you. I laugh when I hear that. A car with 700hp, you would not even notice the difference with headers.
I wont speak for the other brands, but much like when people bash cold air intakes or say they are worthless, they should probably research this little couple hundred million dollar company called K&N... Mermel out!

Oh... and if you want evidence of how they work, get a durametric cable, a stock 997TT, and I will send a FREE set to test all day long. Its funny how people ***** about products that are offered to them. Nobody said take them. There is a company that has been selling a underdrive pulley kit for the E60 M5 since it came out and claims it makes 30HP/24ft/lbs of torque. A "reputable" company too in that fact... No one has called them out since 2006 or whenever they made this pulley. Come on guys chill.

An interesting statement. There have been a few threads here discussing the value of headers at different power levels. I think TPC is one of the few that have a dyno showing the effect of their headers. I'm still not sure what to think of it at the power level stated and will wait for more data...
