Project 250 MPH / Standing Mile
To win texas this weekend, you will probably need to post north of 270mph.
Should be wild with a bunch of new contenders but I fear that the goliad location may be seeing it's last race since the navy wants it under eminent domain and the fact that it lacks the rundown area to handle speeds higher than 250mph.
Bring a chute if you plan on going for the record.

In Texas YES 100% when i see it I will be a believer.. Even in Maxton, NC I will.. At the rinky dink Miami Mile I wont believe it unless i see a GPS come out of the car at 268+..

Once someone serious starts putting on the events in miami, I expect it to take over because we have more than a mile left to slow down from speed since the runway has a pretty deep displaced threshold on both ends.....which adds to length but is not counted for aviation purposes.
The runway is pretty pristine and very clean meaning any video you make of your run won't sound like you're driving on a gravel road and.......no worries of ingesting pebbles.
The dade/collier field is also compensated for the curvature of the earth making any distanced measured off more accurate than most places because one of the original plans for it was to have it as a space shuttle alternate airport.
It's main mission was to be the worlds largest airport in anticipation of the united states flavor of the supersonic transport.....which never materialized.
If you've flown into that place as many times as I have, you would never say it was rinky dink.
Performance Power will not be done until they take the record to 300 and then cruise calle ocho that same evening with the a/c blowing cold.
We were first over 250 and that was recorded on tag heuer equipment so I still consider that the official record in light of the rinky dink setup many of us here witnessed first hand when trying to collect our timeslips at the exotics rally event.
There's still a lot of work to do and I don't know if we will have enough time....but we will try to make texas as we are registered.
You're welcome to come up and say "hi"....we won't shoot.

Depending on the event, the miami mile has been timed using tag heuer equipment run by a tag heuer technician.

Ill go down as saying 300mph isnt going to happen in a standing mile.. in 10 years if and when it happens someone can say i told you so.. You cover too many FPS by the time a 2000hp car can lay down the power and by then you already ate up your mile.. Bonnevile is 1 thing.. the standing mile has now become a traction race not HP race.. The tires needed to hook can run 300mph safely so there needs to be some serious traction and tire development before we see 300mph.. Ill say Performance Power will be old and gray before they run 300mph in a standing mile in Texas.. Props to them if they do it though.. You cant progress unless you have a goal.. We will see..
