Help with my 911 TT purchase?
Help with my 911 TT purchase?
Hey guys..
I'm about to ramp up my search for a 08-2011 TT purchase. I'm giving the gap in model years, because thats where I need some advice.
First of all..I'm not sure if I will lease, or buy. I am leaning towards buying, simply because I have a sizable downpayment that I can use. Leasing is an option, since I can run the payments thru my business. HOWEVER, since most of my cars are "toys", I don't put enough miles on them to justify leasing. Leasing would generally put me into a 2010-2011 model year I would assume?
That being said..I am unsure of where to buy a Porsche. Most dealers seem to not be in touch with market conditions as far as discounts or negotiations. I'm not sure an auction house would be a wise move either, based on what I've read. Most guys are using the auctions to set a baseline price before setting off to search for the car.
So, I have been scouting eBay and Autotrader. Luckily, the prices there seem to be pretty realistic given the economy and overall car market right now. There are a few dealers on eBay who seem to be discounting the 2010's, and I have also seen a rash of very low mile 09's pop thru there.
Anyone have any opinions on buying off eBay, or Autotrader? How about an auction house? Does anyone have a recommendation as far as dealerships, or small exotic car dealers for a low mile TT?
Location is not an issue..I can have the car trucked in as I have a friend in that business.

I would look for a cpo car, as I think they are worth more in the long run. For me, the year of the car would come down to pdk vs 6 speed.
We were looking at this car: It was 137,000 at the time, which I thought was too much. It looks like it is cheaper now.

I'm not a big fan of silver, my first choice is black, and my 2nd choice is black. LOL
Anyways..I have seen a couple 2010's on eBay with less miles for around that same number in your AT link..just an FYI.
It's too late for me. My wife just picked up her 2011 S yesterday. I haven't driven it yet but I plan on posting a little review after I have some time with it. I know there are plenty of new black ones available.
Are you looking for cab or coupe?

I am in no hurry..I have found several just browsing, but may get buyers regret soon. I passed up a really sweet 08 with 2100 miles on it..black, looked to be perfect condition. I felt it better to try for a 2009, or even a 2010.
This a completely new experience for me, as I've only had Corvettes and Mustangs, etc.
Buy CPO, I used the Porsche site to find my car in June. I dont trust e-bay.

Well, I think you are correct..many of the Porsches on the link above are on eBay, too.
If you are looking 6 speed or tiptronic, I might look for a 2009 as you get the newer electronics and the more proven 997.1 engine.
If you are looking at pdk then obviously a 2010 or 2011.
You will be getting a different level of refinement from the vettes and mustangs. My wife just traded in her black Z06 for her car. Good luck with black...it's a ton of work but worth it.
Also, be careful completely trusting the carfax. Not all bodywork will show up on it.
I would try your local dealer too. They may know of a car that is coming in off lease or in trade that is not advertised.

My pleasure, couple must have options imo are:
1. Sport Chrono
2. Adaptive Sport Seats
3. Park Assist
4. Rear locking axle (limited slip)
PCCB's -ceremic brakes would be nice and some carbon bits.
If its a 2010+ car with PDK, get the paddles and not the buttons.

And, agree with you on the carfax. I've seen a few cars in my time with damage that never showed up on any carfax report.
I want the bells and whistles!
If they know you are a serious buyer, I am sure the asking prices will become more in line with what you are expecting.
My wife got more of a discount than I was expecting off of her new car...There are not a lot of buyers in this price range at the moment.
Do you know if you want 6 speed, PDK, or tiptronic?

So, to answer your question..I have no idea.
Any suggestions?
