997.1 LED Tail Light Available
Response from Hong Kong, "
You can try disconnect the battery and reconnect it. If this doesn’t work, then you will need to add load resistors from www.v-leds.com. They have a special resistor for turn signals error."
I tried the disconnect the battery trick- no luck.

These things may look good but if they don't work straight out of the box then they are just an expensive boat anchor. Evidently the r and d on these units falls somewhat short of the mark. The supplier should take these back and get them right before offering them to the market.
You can probably take this with grain of salt but manufacturer is supposedly claiming that the lights are working just fine based on several sets sold throughout Asia. We just need Rottec to sort through this with the manufacturer to figure out if this is an isolated incident.
Also, Rottec, the only way I would purchase these is with some sort of warranty from you. Even if it is a 1 year, no dead LED's warranty for $50 or something, it will gate whether I would purchase.
You could then send them en masse back for repair, and use this as your basis of swappables.

That being said, we have "a Chinese Quad" We also have a Polaris Quad, and Japanese motorcycles. The Polaris, Honda and Suzuki are very high quality. The best grade 8 fasteners. Flanges and custom engineered non generic fasteners. Factory applied threadlocker. Polycarbonate lenses on lights. However, the Chinese quad was $500 delivered. The Polaris was $2700.00. Is China to blame, or am I for buying a "cheap" quad?

This is one of the reasons I bought the 911 TT, because you can still tinker with this car. With the wife and kids hounding me all day this keeps me out of the house and in the garage or driving. So to figure out how to resolve this minor issue (hopefully its just a matter of putting on a simple resistor) is kind of fun. Eventhough these lights may be made in China, they still look hot.

i still try to find projects to keep me busy, even when single, i just hate when manufacturers dont live up to what they sell, keep us posted though:

In fact, as discussed before, even 997.2 conversions are not without issues. Aside from near $4000 price tag to do it with replacement bumper, some are still experiencing similar error codes.we are lucky to even see LED tail for 997TT - I think 996TT guys have been waiting for a long time but nothing on the horizon...

It depends of what all of you call cheap. In 2002, i retrofit the OEM clear taillights in the Boxster S for €250 (pair). It was a fair price to me at that time. In 2003, i retrofit the led tailights in the M3 for around €700 with light control module included. (mod fever was at max level)
If the price of this lights was €1500, none of you would contest the quality and it still would be cheaper than buying oem lights, light modules and modify rear bumper or buy new rear bumper.

Turn signal blinker has always been a big headache for LED retrofits. There are special flasher you can buy to remedy this. Not saying this is the cure for the problem we're discussing here, since I don't have one of the unit in hand.

But I agree, if the ad claim it works, then it should work without any additional mods. Too bad as I'd buy a set if it works plug-n-play as claimed. Don't want to mess with the wiring to get it working.
