997.1 LED Tail Light Available
Hi
I am also interested in these LED tail lights (997)! I have been in contact with a seller in Germany, and he said that his LED tail lights will NOT giva any blinker warning light!?
Could it be different manufacturers?
Different between EU and US cars?
He has tested the lights on 2004-2006 997 cars without problems!
2020: Maybe you have some pics where you installed the resistors?

Lights work great. You can buy the resistors separately or in the aluminum housing. Definately get the ones with the aluminum housing otherwise they do get hot. In about 5 minutes of continuous use the resistors are very hot to touch. Fortunately the blinkers should be on less than a few minutes. The kit from V-LEDs that I posted previously comes with 2 resistors.
If you can follow my wiring instructions, it is very straight forward and should take less than 20 minutes. Simply you connect the two blinker wires (Red and Black) of the LED light to each the black wires on the resistor. One black wire of the resistor taps into the Red LED light wire and the other resistor wire taps into the Black LED light wire. Do not tap into the wires coming from the car (as I did). With their Blue connectors, no splicing of wires are necessary.
I tucked the aluminum housing of the resistors in the far corner (there is plenty of room) of the Rear tailight housing.

Do they not make a 21w one? Though still hot it would be a bit safer tucked away back there. My fear is the 50w will get well over 300 degrees and cause a fire if it moves and touches any wiring or nonmetallic item.
Just a thought, you may also not need the full load to prevent the bulb out warning. Ive seen some GTI guys use 5w resistors (looked the same gold style design) to fix 21w bulbs. Worth a try maybe?
2020: Thanks for being the guinea pig with these new LED tail lights - they look great on your turbo! One question though: In your 09-26-2010, 12:44 PM post (#52) it looks like there is an additional bulb to the right or left of the directional indicator. Am I seeing things or do you have an incandescent bulb in there too? I did see where you responded that it was NOT a rear fog light. Thanks in advance for your help!

No incandescent bulb. They provided a dummy bulb for the rear fog light. Its interesting that the original lights have a rear fog light bulb for each side, however only the driver's side lights up when switched on.
Most of the pictures and videos were taken on my iphone, so the clarity might not be as good as an SLR. Looking careful at the signal lights, some of the LEDs are brighter than others. Unless you are specifically looking for this, most people most likely will not notice.
At the end of the day these lights are much brighter than the stock lights (plus one for safety). Aesthetically, I guess everybody has their own preferences.

I have a 07 997s, sorry Ray i post on the group buy, not meant to, not trying to mess with your business. i thought that i gave this vendor a try and see how the lights are because he said he has it in stock. maybe it quicker to get it for everybody. And please don't think im trying to sell them either, just trying to help out.
