these wheels considered heavy?

18x9/12 20/24lbs

monoblock on a low offset car so it's a pretty thick pad. is this considered heavy, light, average?

thanks.

what would be considered on the lighter side for 18s? keep in mind the 12" width and the pad height.

No info as to your particular needs or application, but keep in mind that 18" tires will outweigh 19's significantly. Stock 19's are about 23lbs. f & 24lbs. r, +/-. TT Surgeon knows his stuff--pay heed.

Sorry-I was not clear in above post. Weights I posted are for stock 19" wheels--not tires, which are quite heavier.

my issue is rim makers will list their wheel weights but never the application. a car with lower offsets is going to have a thicker pad height which significantly increases the weight of the wheel vs a higher offset car.

i'm hoping TT Surgeon will chime in and let me know what's a light, med-light weight for 18s.

Light - In my opininion for 18" wheels would be around the sub 18 to 20 lbs mark which can be found on wheels like the Volk Racing and ADVAN Racing wheels.

Medium Light - In my opinion for 18" wheels would be around the 19 to 23 lbs mark which can be found on most of the high-end cast wheels on the market.

are the light wheels monoblock, reverse lip, or step? i think step will yield the lightest because of the thinner pad height.

Monobloc 1-Piece Forged designs usually tend to be the lightest. Take for example, the BBS FI (Forged Individual):

19x8.75" wheel weighs in at 16.31 lbs!

For what car? I see that quote taken from BBS FI's site but no mention of the application.

Given that there are only two applications: BMW and Porsche. The weight of the FI (Forged Individual) wheel was from a front wheel application for a Porsche 996 or 997 - which is 19x8.75".

The US-market BBS FIs for the BMWs haven't actually hit the shores. There are a few smuggled sets here and there. But those numbers are strictly for the Porsche guys!

Your assessment that lower offset wheels are heavier due to the thicker pad are not necessarily true. Some wheel companies do vary offset by simply changing pad thickness. It is crude but effective. There are other engineering methods that work better.
We usually change the shape of the wheel face to push the wheel in or out.
For example, a lower offset wheel can have a more concave face rather than a thicker backpad.
In this way, weights are kept more constant, and heavy backpads are not necessary.
