Champion vs TPC challenge
I think Karim makes some valid points. I thought similarly but since both parties agreed then I can only assume each must think they will gain benefit from this event whether they win, lose, or draw. I hope it won't be a one-off car since I believe the spirit of the challenge is to showcase the commercial vtg packages which has been brought into question about who has the "fastest" however that is defined.
As stated in a previous post, this is an off the self power package offered by champion motorsport and dealer network. It can be purchased directly off of our website. This vehicle has STOCK INTERNALS

Dave,
I would feel much much better about the whole event, and the spirit in which it was being held, if:
1- It did not start off in anger
2- It was organized by an independent third party with rules aimed specifically at eliminating all factors other than the cars and their kits
3- Kits/tunes were installed/overseen/verified by an independent third party
4- It was open to all willing vendors, not just a face-off between Champion/TPC
It is not a knock on anyone's credibility, rather a desire to leave no room for suspicion and doubt.
You said both vendors accepted. In this case, I think TPC had no choice. The gauntlet was publicly laid down in front of them.

Very interesting. Just yesterday I was talking to Mike about how much he's enjoying the prototype parts we've been testing in the TPC GT2. And then I wake up and find this challenge. Looking forward to the battle, and obviously we're gonna root for TPC, even though both operations are top in their field.
I think using a pro driver to take that out of the equation makes sense. I also think that as these upgrade packages are offered to enthusiast drivers, it would be interesting to see as part of the comparison these cars driven by mere mortals.
Of course selecting the mere mortal(s), and figuring out how to insure, etc. would be logistics the competitors would need to figure out. Maybe each car's owner lapping both cars (and not sandbagging it).

This would be a fantastic opportunity for all vendors to put there heads together and come up with a venue that works for everyone.
This is exactly how the Supra Nationals (TX2K) got started 10 years ago. A public venue for tuners to go head to head as well as customers.
It might be advantageous to contact 6speed member houstonT as he is the orginizer of the event to see if something like this can be piggybacked on to the Supra event, which I am sure would be since they want to expand the Supra Nats in general.
This would give about 6 months since the event normally is in March held in TX annually, so the tuners who came up short can come back with the guns loaded so to speak.
I too think the time has come to settle the 'beef', but for all 6speed tuners.

This is awesome, has the venue been decided yet? Road Atlanta would be great, centrally located. I could host some guys if need be. 10 minutes from track. 15 minutes from Atlanta dragway. Mexico is not that far either. Please announce the venue asap so people can attend.
As for the TPC and Champion, I will think a lot higher of them for participating in this, win or lose and putting their money where their mouth is. Maybe this can become an annual thing and we can all get together since our supposed to be annual track day we started a few years ago has fallen off.
Good luck to both parties. Subscribed.

Much respect due to both tuners. Such a competition which proceeds with respect and good sportsmanship will be a fun event to watch, for sure. I love competition, given that it's conducted in a professional manner - and i think both tuners are class acts that will provide a great showing, much to the enjoyment of all us 6speeders. Honestly, despite whichever car wins the shootout, the companies' records speak for themselves. They're both highly decorated and accomplished tuning outfits. I appreciate both of them participating.
Now just some speculation from my own humble opinion. Champion's turbos may be bigger, but i have full confidence in Protomotive's tuning over GIAC. For fun, i was going to throw out some guesses - like Champion takes the straightline by a small edge - 138 in the quarter v. 137, 197 in the mile v. 196...but not so sure now. And just completely off hearsay and no objective data, but i would give the edge on the road course to TPC. My vote gives the slight edge to TPC.
When will the event take place? It'll be fun to see how all this pans out. Many thanks to Champion and TPC!
