Champion vs TPC challenge
Well it's been quite some time since my last post but this one caught my eye. I actually like seeing this friendly competition and welcome it.
TPC and Champion are very professional companies and I for one would like to get involved in this challenge. I know it may be too late but this is exactly what the GLOBAL TUNER GP is all about so it's too bad this couldn't be setlled next weekend!!! SEE WWW.GLOBALTUNERGP.COM.
A car's performance around the track tells all......power, balance, handling, braking......good in all categories will most likely produce the fastest laptime.
Regarding Mark Ambrose's comments.......
We at GMG strive to make a Porsche even better, in all performance categories........not just HP and straightline. Porsches were not built for drag racing, although that rear weight really helps, they were built for all-around performance. But we realize that many enthusiasts and owners simply want more power and we can certainly provide that as well as a completely balanced car, one that can be driven to the track and then run flat out all day, and then driven home.
Most of our clients seem to appreciate a Porsche with a well-balanced suspension, precision braking and razor sharp steering, hence all the development we have taken from our racing exploits and formulated our GMG World Challenge parts. Racing improves the breed and that trickle down formula is one we take very seriously.
Ok.....off my soap box for now but this competition will be one thread I will certainly follow and look forward to hearing the results.

James@GMG, yes i think we're in agreement, i was stating why it's hard to say that just one tuner is the best, because different tuners may have different philosophies but they're equally as excellent at what they do. You stated it well, as what impresses me about GMG is taking the Porsche formula to the next level (or two); that is, creating a balanced, hardcore, reliable car that's just as comfortable at the track as well as on the street...a pure distillation of what Porsche has been from its inception. You say you strive but i think your track record already says you're quite accomplished. I mentioned GMG as an example of how successful Porsche tuning is not all of the same philosophy, but that there are tuners with different priorities but are as equally as accomplished as all of the aforementioned. By no means was i inferring any notion of superiority among different types of tuners; only that in my humble opinion when comparing one software tuner v. the next in terms of power output and delivery, hearsay and info. i've been told leads me to root for Protomotive. That said i'm equally as impressed with the accomplishments of other tuners who have demonstrated success in other measures of a car's potential, as straight-line speed is only one.
Champion excels with developing hard parts, while TPC excels at building complete car packages. Two different missions but both excellent in their own right.
For the road course portion my money would be on TPC hands down. But, for the dyno and power related portions, those Champion 68's are going to be hard to beat.

Just wanted to chime in on this nice Monday morning to dispel some of the rumors about this event before things get out of control.
For starters, it's just Champion and TPC. We're not inviting other tuners, and we're not making this a global event of any kind. There are plenty of other events for that. Maybe next year or sometime in the future, but for now, it's 1 on 1.

Secondly, the event will NOT be simply a 1/4 mile drag race. There will be a few different events, as mentioned early on in the thread. Road course is one, dyno another, as well as 1/4 mile.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly....this this event is NOT being held as a pissing match. We are in constant contact with TPC to go over details and "rules" for the event so that it can be held in the fairest manner possible for both parties. I can assure you that spirits are good between both companies and both see this as an excellent opportunity.
I don't think of either company as a 'tuner' either. Evo, Protomotive, Switzer, GIAC, Softronic, etc. are the 'tuners'.

I don't think highly of GIAC tunes based on a few friends results, so for the tuning GIAC will have their hands full with a Proto tuned car. As for the track, will be interesting to see but I do hope ALL/EVERY mod is listed and that cars that are readily available to customers are used. No special sauce.
Don't misunderstand me, I think their 775 Blitzkrieg is awesome but I believe the 68mm Champion turbos will make more power. They are bigger, and bigger usually makes more. The dyno and dragstrip won't care about a little lag...if there is any.
I don't have any allegiance to either firm, I'm just trying to be realistic.
