CL63 Goodbye
CL63 Goodbye
This is the last week on my CL63 lease. It is really an awesome car that I will miss a great deal. Very strange to compare to the tt but in some ways not that different. Video from summer '09.

Not sure what's next. I drive the tt every day but will have to put it away soon for the winter.
Options are renting something monthy to March.
Other possibility is to buy CL63 from dealer. The lease buyout is $92K and that's too much. Car is worth $60-70K. the dealer is finding out what they can buy the car for from MB and maybe work something out with me.
I'm not all that interested in doing that but you never know.
What I would really like to do is get by with monthly rental for the winter and wait for the next version CL that is probably 3-5 years out.
For the past 25 years, I've owned the "King of the Hill" on and off and will someday do it again.

To be able to drive the car of your choice and dreams is such a blessing. Hopefully something reasonable will pan out that you could buy that car outright. You know they won't be selling that car for the 'lease buyout price' to a stranger when they put it on a car lot... and in these times, perhaps the current economics will give you some leverage. This would at least save them some flooring costs to flip the car. It's a win-win deal, IMHO.
Either YOU, or somebody they have to wait for, is going to pay mkt value. This is both a bad time of year for car sales as well as homes. It would certainly behoove MB to give you first right of refusal via your dealer if they can work this for you... it benefits THEM, too.
In the meantime you still get to enjoy your P-car.
best to ya for this outcome.

Yes, new engine & trans:
Despite its 63 designation, the latest CL63 AMG has swapped out its 6.2-liter (which Mercedes-Benz was already fibbing on by graciously rounding up to 6.3) V8 for the automaker’s new 5.5-liter bi-turbo unit. Standard power is 536 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. of torque.
Those seeking even more from their ultra-luxury sports coupe will want to option up to the AMG Performance Package. Power in that configuration is up to 563 horsepower, while torque tops out a stump-pulling 664 lb-ft. Regardless of performance level, the 5.5-liter V8 is mated to a seven-speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7 automatic transmission with three driving modes and a rev-matching function."
Body has been tweaked but probably at least 2 years to next full revision.
I really really really miss that car but driving the turbo sans top makes me very happy!
