The most important modification...

After some analysis I have concluded that the following is my most important modification. Unlike those that increased hp, torque, etc., THIS particular mod doesn't keep costing me money. Rather, it pays dividends; sometimes on a daily basis. And without it, my other modifications would be at risk...

What's your favorite mod..?

I researched like mad... a high proportion of alerts are laser based. IMHO if your decision to speed is based on a reliance of an electronic defense, you MUST have an effective laser shield, otherwise you are placing yourself at a level of risk that is difficult to assess. And if you can't accurately assess the risk, how can you make an informed decision?

No detector or deflector system is immune to failure. And one risk of using such a system for me is that I tend to drive (much) faster on open roads simply because of the electronics... Potentially exposing me to more risk than if I didn't have the Passport...

That not withstanding, I dig my system. 4,000 miles +/- since I purchased the car. Most of those miles above posted limits and some at light speed... So far, so good...

You are lucky to be aloud to use those things. I never got to understand why they allow them?

If i install one on my car i believe i will be stoped and checked, and when theyh found it they'll take me to the court

How can the policeman not read your speed but you fly by him at 200 without getting a ticket?

I think, generally speaking, the argument is that you (the driver) have the right to know when you are under surveillance (civil liberties and such). Radar detectors are outlawed for commercial truck drivers for similar reasons as to why pilots cannot operate a plane with ANY alcohol in their blood - the greater damage that they are able to inflict negates some of their civil liberties. A few states succeeded at outlawing them across the board, but they are in the distinct minority. You can pry my detector from my cold, dead hands... lol

I know in Texas an officer can cite you for speeding based on observation alone as they are trained in methods to be able to estimate your speed based on time/distance traveled or based on your speed relative to another car whose speed they already know - but I've also never encountered someone who has actually received a speeding ticket based on observation alone. I've been warned a few times based only on observation.

Question, I looked up laser shield and found that it’s a plastic cover over the license plate meant to diffuse the laser light on the flat surface. If this is correct then is a car with no front license plate, meaning all curved surfaces, difficult to detect?

No.. Laser Interceptor USA! It's a diode based jammer/diffuser so the LIDAR wont register your speed!

I believe it is more difficult to achieve a laser lock, but Texas officers will usually aim for your headlight. All the different tricks to deflect/diffuse laser are simply designed to give you more time to react to a laser warning on your radar detector before the officer can get locked on.

Agreed. think of the laser diffuser as akin to electronic chaff used by combat aircraft to confuse enemy SAM targeting systems. Passport advises there is a few seconds to slow the car once a warning is registered proior to "lock".

Just be sure not to slam the brakes before checking to see that there isn't a massive truck on your 6 which will plow into you

Also... unsure if the sloped headlights on the 911 make it more difficult for Johnny Law to obtain a lock..? My cop friends tell me that ideally they go for the front plate/bumper.

Good luck!

Almost all the tickets I have got could have been avoided by watching the road ahead of me and checking the rear view mirror. Laser comes at you too fast but you can often spot them ahead unless they are being real sneaky. If its that important I would get a Blinder Extreme M20 laser jammer.
