TT doesn't like 2000-2400 rpm's?

When driving my 997.2 TT in auto sport mode, it doesn't seem "comfortable" when driving easy and in the 2000-2400 rpm band. For example, when the car is in 3rd or 4th gear and the car is in that rev band and i am not pushing, the car doesn't feel smooth. Hard to describe, other than it's not smooth. it's not very noticeable, and some may not even notice. but i do. if i push on the accelerator a bit, and either it downshifts or simply stays in same gear but at a higher rpm, the problem goes away. I should say i don't notice this when at highway speeds in 5th or 6th gear in that rev band. normal? anyone else notice this? thoughts? thanks.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? what you are experiencing is most likely exhaust drone.

stock exhaust. it's not a noise (drone). i can feel it. when i am lightly pressing the pedal in that range and maintaining speed (no acceleration), it seems to be a little herky-jerky.

Turbo cars have much more load at low rpm than non turbo. You could be getting knock retard. The ecu senses a problem or to much load and pulls a bunch of timing.

sounds like you have a tip or pdk. no turbo should be driven under 3000 rpms ever!! the sales people at the dealer will tell you that it's fine, it's not.. try staying above 3000 rpms and see if you ecu adjust..

Mine used to buck if I pushed it down around 2000 rpm. Once I went to a free flowing exhaust the problem went away. I think the stock exhaust is the problem.

My tt does not like that RPM range either. I've got a manual with AWE exhaust - not only do I get drone in that range, the car is definitely unhappy - this wasn't the case with my 996 c2.

I spend a lot of time in fifth gear on the highway to keep the revs up when traffic keeps things below 75.

I'm not familiar with tips and "auto sport mode" but with manual transmission and in sport mode, sometimes the more responsive throttle movement can cause jerky movements.

yes, it's a pdk. when driving in manual mode, i rarely have it at 2000 rpm. usually 2750 and up. so don't experience the problem. but in auto mode, even in sport setting, when not pushing the car, it will shift to a higher gear and end up in that 2000-2400 range at times. sounds like this is not an anomaly, which i guess is good to hear. no problems experienced at all above 2500. it's not normal that i'm in that bad range, and can just make sure to completely avoid it. also, will probably be getting an aftermarket exhaust soon with 200 cell cats, so maybe that will help also.
