997 muffler modification
997 muffler modification
I just did the 750 AWE turbo upgrade on my 997 turbo, 2007, the only thing I'm missing now, is the muffler system, I want it to go with the AWE muffler system but the shop who did the upgrade is suggesting me to go with the B&B (Billy Boat) muffler system, I just sold my muffler from AWE first generation, was not so impressed with it. What is the best muffler system for the 997 Turbo
You'll get a lot of different answers, but the Europipe has a HUGE following and it has 100cpsi cats and the stage 2 version is a 3" system that will really let the engine breath. Sounds great in a very manly way.
Sorry but when u say "muffler" do u mean the muffler only or the system as a whole? if so do u still have the AWE cats on ?

Look no further into the following:
Fvd made by M&M ( I have them and enjoying every single rev on the rpm )
Europipe (stage 2 though)
Cargraphic
BBI

BBs have a reputation of being loud and droning. Why not try the gen 2 AWE system to maintain uniformity with the system (or even their new crosspipe version). Another great one is the EP, very pricey. FVD, EP, Tub, FS, CG all make decent systems, just pick one.
What was the issue with the gen 1 awe? That info would help to guide you.

It was sent back to us and updated so he would not have any futher problems.
I am guessing that is why he decided not to keep it.

Is your car the one that is getting all the body work done to it as well? If so, please send me some pictures when it is done.
Really appreciate your business! You are going to love the performance of the turbo kit.
I would stick with the AWE, it is designed for the system, especially the new AWE cross flow exhaust (great sound). AWE has great customer service. Stay far, far away from BB.

Hey Mike, yes you’re right. I sold the muffler, thanks a lot for getting it fix. Regarding the exhaust system, everyone has his personal preference, on my side, in 2007, I bought the AWE muffler 1st generation thinking it should be a good product, I was not hoping to have problems with the product. I need to have a complete new line system, you did the turbo upgrade for my car, we are still missing the intercooler system, but should be in soon, right? Like you mentioned, the car is getting the body work done with the Techart Gt Street R package. If I decide to go with the AWE, do you think you could do the muffler to fit with the rear bumper Techhart Gt Street R, because it has different spec? TT Surgeon & TT Gasman were talking about a new crosspipe (cross flow) version from AWE, it’s not on the AWE site, what exactly are they talking about?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

Don't they all drone?
Mine's getting louder as the miles add up and guess what? it's starting to annoy me now. Thinking of going back to stock.
In my 996 tt days, members on here used to open up the stock systems with supposedly good result. Anyone try this on a 997tt?

Yep, that's the one. It started our almost too quiet and then got steadily louder. I ordered a Mustang GT with the new "Coyote' 5.0 as a winter ride while the tt sleeps. The Mustang 5.0 forums are all about mods and one of the biggest topics is, guest what: aftermarket exhaust drone.
The same goes for stock...most have swapped their stock exhaust before having a chance for it to sing a chorus.
Performance gains aside.. I've noticed different sound nuances after 5000 and again at 10000 miles.
And my suspension has lowered some millimeters as well since new. Guess the softer springs give you a lowering kit look if you wait long enough...

Just playing phone tag with Avo. I know he was on vacation over the holidays. We will be getting the IC's out shortly!
Also, our new exhaust for the 997.2TT is what TTS and TTG are referring to. Unfortunately this exhaust is totally different and cannot be retrofitted for the Gen1 997TT.
Also, I am not sure about the TechArt conversion working with our mufflers. There is nothing I could do here to make any change because we would need the car here with the bumper on it. Not having that would make things impossible...we would be blind without it. It would all be a guess...
