If that wing was on the previous car...I would deffo push for a new car.

Otherwise, the new engine is just fine - really. No diff than replacing your brakes, suspension, cupholder etc.

I would certainly push for some freebies for your trouble and assistance helping porsche troubleshoot the 9A1.

Update

Just spoke with the dealer and I now have more info. I am told that the bolt(s) that hold the gear to the chain driven oil pump fell out. No oil, no motor. OOPS. The car was taken off the showroom floor just as it looks in the picts. The dealer added the Champion wing. The car has the leather package (headliner, this that and the other) and the carbon interior. Chrono sport, 6 speed, red gauge face and belts, etc. I have to say that I love the car as set up.

The dealer will be puutting in a new, not reman engine as they claim that there are no remans in the system as yet. The one from this car will be first ?????. Anyway, the new motor is on the way from Germany and I suspect we are several weeks out from complete. They calim the engine is 100% complete and no old parts from the failed unit will be transplanted which makes me happy. We shall see when the crate arrives. I asked about the carfax / matching number thing and was told that the data base will be updated to include the new engine and they regard it as any other warranty claim. In P's system the new motor will show as original. They say that it will not change the value but I would expect P to say that.. Who knows. I am OK with the solution as I simply dont have the time, energy or emotion needed to push for an alternate solution. That, and the fact that the car will be a driver, not a garage queen and I doubt that this will impact a sale sometime down the road. In the end I am OK with it as long as P and the dealer show some grace and insure that I am happy.

Thanks to all for your thoughts. They were very helpfull.

Cheers to all

Btw

The dealer claims that they simply cant get any of the new turbo's and have none in stock. I looked but could not find any in their VERY extensive inventory. I dont know how true the claim of limited availability is, so I thought I would pose the question here.

I would call another dealer and ask what they have in stock and ask them to do a search of national dealer inventory for a car that you want. If they come back with same answer then your dealer is truthful. If the dealer is claiming to correct VIN info and update the database then I wouldnt worry about the resale. Just drive and enjoy!

Are they giving you a loaner to drive while your's is being repaired?

Dealers swap inventory all the time. If they really wanted to get you a new turbo, they could.

I have no doubt that they can find a replacement somewhere even with the claim to the contrary. They have given me a loaner thats decent and I think we will work a deal on a few upgrades. Overall I am happy so far and dont feel as though I have been wronged or treated poorly. My only real concern is that this is not a "monday" car.

On another topic, does anyone else feel that 1st gear is waaaaaay to tall. My car experiance falls far short of my bike experiance, but on my Duc racebikes, I would drop one or two teeth on the rear sprocket if the gearing felt like it does in the car. It feels almost unusable.
