Upgraded turbo kit...Need help deciding
Evt775
Proto3071
Hey guys...I'm at the point where I'm going to purchase a turbo kit...Right now my choices are between the Evo 775 kit and the Proto gt3071 kit...The evo kit cost a lot less and I can do the install myself...If I went with them, I'd most likely tow my car down to AZ and have it dyno tuned...My next choice is Proto...This system goes past the stock hardware and adds the gt turbos, blow system, ect...I have a tip and know if I do the proto kit, eventually I'll have to upgrade my tip...I'm just worried about reliability...I've heard 775-800bhp is about the limits of the stock internals...The proto kits will be pushing more than that...The proto kit I'd probably pay to have installed also...I'd like to have my car around the mid to high 600 range in Awhp on pump gas...I'd love to hear what kit you would buy and why....Reliability is the most important thing to me!

Don't believe he was asking for a reputable shop. He's just trying to decide between two power kits. Finding a decent shop in SoCal is the easy part.
Correct...I know what shop I'd use for the install already...I'm just trying to decide between the two kits...
Need more info. What's the cost differential? The Evo775 is not an inexpensive kit. It comes with a lot of supporting mods. What about Proto's A3071 kit? Those are direct bolt ons and overall less expensive than Evo775 and GT3071s. Is an an external boost controller OK or do you prefer ECU controlled? Not sure it's possible generate mid-high 600 awhp with VTGs on CA pump gas so if that's your goal, better double check that.

Not to make this more difficult than it already is, but have you narrowed your choice down to these two kits period?
The reason I ask is that Protomotive are doing the Tial Alpha kit based on the GT30s and they require much less modification work on your car than the Garrett variant. A couple of cars over here have them installed and they are making tremendous power.
Just a thought...

I went for the EVT775 for the exact reasons you specified. Two additional pluses: Todd Z. has been fantastic with tweaking the system exactly the way I want it and the system looks pretty stock.
Can you imagine what the dealer would say for warranty work if they saw Champion branded billet turbos or Alpha Garretts when they put your car up on the rack?

1- Cheaper than Proto kit
2- The tranny will hold longer but after while u will need to upgrade it
3- I believe with that kit u will see low 600's on wheels
Proto GT3071R's $22,800
1- More expensive than EVT775 kit
2- Upgrade tranny will be a must if u wanna go higher boost
3- Standard GT3071R would hit low to mid 700whp
Both kits r proven and reliable but also u need to know stock internals can hold mid to high 800's on wheels with Proto and SPI kits...Evoms claim 775-800hp on crank
It is all depends how much u wanna spend + how many hp/tq u looking for
Proto also offers the VTG based kit which is the fastest VTG kit available

The EVT775 is not that much different then other VTG kits sold much cheaper by other vendors 600WHP.
Like John stated Champion has the 65/68 Billet VTG Turbo's that are capable of 650-700WHP.
For truly big power can't beat the GT30's/Alapa30's over 700WHP.
You pick based on your goal.
PS
AWHP quoted on race gas not possible with pump gas.
