Question about PCCB

The PCCB option costs almost $8K. I was wondering, how much does it cost to maintain those brakes? Do the brake pads themselves cost thousands?

Thanks

8k is the price when you install them from the factory(they take back the cost of steel brakes...)when you buy it as a retrofit it is around 15k...Cost of pads is not too high...a little higher than steel pads

and pads can go reeaally quick with a heavy foot, especially in the back if you are tracking the car with PSM on

Run a search. It's a long/tired/unresolved(able) debate.

You replaced just pads (I assume front and rear) and you paid that much?
Cost of pads (front and rear) is hardly $1000...Weird...eh?

I have just ordered pads for my car, they cost around €800 plus labour. My car has 32,000 km now and the pads are 50%. I heared a lot of people saying that is better to change them at this point to extend the life of rotors.

Exactly as you said Antonis...when these ceramic pads go below 50% they become harder (more metallic elements in the paste) and so they tend to "destroy" the 1mm usefull thread of PCCB disks...

that's about 25,000 miles. I got 38,000 miles out of my reds with about 20 track days on them. Weren't the PCCBs supposed to be the 100,000 mile pad?

I'd be willing to bet the CC pads last twice as long as normal pads on the track and 3-4 times that with just street driving.

The CC pads aren't much more than high quality pads for steel rotors.
