New 2011 911 Turbo S from the order to today!
New 2011 911 Turbo S from the order to today!
So last week I took delivery of a 2011 911 Turbo S. I have 58 miles on the clock but I am loving it so far. This car was something I have been wanting since I was 14 years old. I began looking for a NA car, then an NA cabrio, then I drove the Turbo (big mistake). The rest is history.
Every once in a while you meet a person or company who goes above and beyond the basics in the course of their job. In the purchase and prep of this car two companies really did an outstanding job. I will start out by telling you that I am not affiliated with either company other than being a satisfied customer. Porsche of Roslyn was great. My sales person Matt knew the car, the competition for each model, its features and walked me through the process step by step. Once we made the deal I received updates via email when the car was issued a VIN, went into production, was completed, was on boat and was delivered to the dealer! He answered my e mails 24x7 (and continues to so after the sale, answering all my questions). If you're in the area and need a Porsche I think you will be impressed with him. Evan the owner was very accommodating to my unusual requests, granting access to the car on Saturday (Service is closed) so another coat of sealant could be applied prior to delivery to me. Detailing Dynamics also did an outstanding job, shuttling the car via flat bed back and forth, cleaning, cosmetically prepping, explaining the clear bra options prior to installation and going over radar systems and choices. Eddie and Matt, the owners of Detailing Dynamics are two of the hardest working guys I klnow. In early and there late. My car was 1 week early and my appointment was moved up despite the fact that this is their crazy busy season. Based on the sheer number of cars I saw there I know this to be true. The treat every car like it belongs to a King. I saw Eddie film my front bumper more than once because after he was done he did not like something he saw. The radar install is neat clean as we discussed. I am the type of person who is either one of your best customers or your worst enemy. I appreciate good service and I expect to get what we agree on in terms of performance and product. I was very satisfied with everything from both Porsche of Roslyn and Detailing Dynamics. No surprises. There was no aggravation and these two companies communicated with each other and left me out of the scheduling of the prep and transport. Attached are some pictures before, during and when everything was finished. I know this might look like a very overly flowery review but these companies earned it
Here are some pictures of the car after it came off the truck at the dealership.

The dealer had the car transported to Detailing Dynamics. Matt and Eddie did a great job removing all the plastic and packaging and making sure there was no port or pre delivery damage. Thankfully, there was none!
. They cleaned every inch of the car inside and out to better than new condition. At this point there were 4 miles on the clock.
Upon Arrival at Detailing Dynamics::

Removal of the factory protective plastic:
They used a steamer and the plastic came off relatively cleanly with virtually no glue left behind and no chance of paint lifting:

Sorry No pictures of the top secrete wash process. What goes on in the tent, stays in the tent... LOL..Just kidding, I had to go to work so there are no pictures!
Next up was for Matt and Eddie to install clear bra on the car. We all spoke about the options and decided to put 3M everywhere on the car and venture on the hood since the 3M is not long and wide enough to cover the whole 911 hood. I stayed with Eddie as he applied the 2 different films on adjacent panels. I was concerned that the look might be horrible. The 3M has more orange peel and the venture is flatter. The biggest advantage of the 3M is correctibility (imperfections can be removed). This is true because I returned to Detailing Dynamics at 9AM on Saturday(today) because I had a black mark on my front 1/4 panel. Matt and Eddie looked at it and removed it with a cleaner called Ultimate Cleaner. I was afraid to mess up with film by using the wrong product. ONR and a MF did not remove it. 2 layers of clear film were applied inside the wheel wells on a wheels and behind the wheels where stone/dirt impact the car. This was done to make removal and re application easy in these beaten areas. This was their idea and I love it. The headlights and fog lights also got film but a thicker version of a 3M product.
Lights, lenses, gas filler door, badges and grills removed in preparation for clear bra:

Carpet taped so the black interior carpet would not get on the white paint

Clear Bra Applied:

each slat filmed 1 at a time:

Film Complete:

Close up's of the tight areas:

Remote Escort Installation:
Power button and control unit were hidden very stealth in the ash tray.
Open:

Closed:

The display was temporally located in front of the shifter. Eddie is having a mirror created for his own car. if it works out well, I will have it installed in the mirror, if not, I will have him build an enclosure above the mirror and re-locate it there. I really want it to be very stealth, so I am willing to wait. He told me honestly that he was doing his car and did not want to experiment on mine. I appreciate that!

UBS Update port was located above the fuse box.

The only items that will need to be replaced to bring the car back to bone stock are a new ashtray insert and the trim around the fuse box would need replacing. No other items were cut into to install the system. This was very important to me.
Finished outside shot:

With everything all done in 5 days time, it headed back to the dealer for delivery to ME.

Sorry for the length of the post, I guess I got carried away. Now I need to go learn how to use the voice control!

Great write up and the car looks great too. Those guys have done a good job. Now go and put some k's on the car and then provide us another write up of your impressions.
Me I'm still grinning from ear to ear with mine.

Are you talking about the jammers? Or in box behind the bumper (internal?)
