1-horn turbo, how to replace 2nd hoen

Turbo horns sound a bit mousy and now I find only 1-horn is working. Been told entire front end must be removed to remove one ($300 job).
Has anyone tried a louder replacement horn such as one at Groits garage? And if so, found a way to find the horn wire without pulling off the front bumper??

Turbo is a pain, if you had a N/A it would be done with out removing the bumper. I do low tone horns once a wek on 9x7 cars. Just use OEM. Its a horn, really no need to "upgrade", lol. No faster.....

Dont do it

I did this to my 996tt with Hella horns that were advertised as "extra loud." Not only did the bumper have to come off, but they had to make a custom bracket, jerry rig the wiring, then bend the whole thing to make the bumper go back on (the horn space is very small). The sound sucked. Complete waste of money.

Should be covered under warranty, I believe it's common for these to go.

Neglected to catch it under Porsche warranty.....4 years gone.....not covered by extended warranty.
Thought there might be a way to get to the bottom horn without removing bumper.
Difficult to catch all Porsche issues......another one is the mass sensor which I understand goes bad because water pours on it when it rains. Porsche won't stop water from bathing the engine in a downpour.

Bummer...surprised the dealer won't work with you more.

I actually didn't know mine was out until my car was inspected at the dealer when I took it in to purchase an extended warranty.

Got my extended when I bought the car new. Should have been on the ball with this, porsche tech brought it to my attention servicing a bad starterl and clutch pedal switch. Cost $300 to replac that horn. Gotta be a way to find that horn wire without pulling the front bumper.

One of my horns is out too. Sounds pathetic. I've had 2 go out on my Cayenne. I can't believe my two $100k+ cars have to have horns replaced all of the time. My 1995 F250 still has an original working horn.

One of my horns was out too and I didn't even know it. The dealer caught it during an inspection. Luckily I was under warranty. Yes, they did have to remove the front bumper to replace it. It happened during the first year of ownership. Have no idea what the cost was.

Mr bro, your shop is hundreds if not thousands of miles from me. Can you PM or at least describe this process or getting to the horn wire or replacing the horn without taking off bumper that you say is so easy "we do it all the time" thanks in advance

No I'm sorry I cannot. If you read again what I said, "gotta pull it off", meaning the bumper. Yes, we pull the bumpers off all the time for turbo horns. For non turbo cars it is possibly to change one of them without removing the front bumper. (997).
And why not come to my shop?
Be a nice road trip

I guess Porsche can afford to fix them if caught in time for warranty. Most don't realize only 1-horn is working. Think of the +side, everything is supposed to have an achilles heel, wouldn' that be nice if that was Porsche's, sadly however, Porsche is multi-achilles heeled.
