is window tinting cheesey?

Please - no disrespect to any guys with their car windows tinted...but I am starting to think it 'cheapens' for lack of a better expression, the look of the car....and having it removed on Tuesday. I am just trying to figure out in my own mind why I got up one morning and said - "this looks to gangster for me". Is it just me or our TT's simply too classic and too special to tint?

Move to Texas or Arizona and ask the question.

100% agree...sorry I should have prefaced the question as one who doesn't need it for interior protection or occupant comfort (ie: southern climates) - purely asthethic/ cosmetic.

I think the right tint looks great...if it was legal in NJ I'd have it.

This is one of the reasons I went for a lighter tint @ 73% all around. I get the protection benefits of infrared and UV blocking without it being too dark and I can drive at night without any visibility issues. It is subtle but just enough against the black interior to make it look darker than normal to give it a nice touch.

It is unfortunately a necessity here. That being said, I also tinted my cars when I lived in NY, mostly for aesthetic purposes. A light (>35% or more) tint I think enhances the appearance of car. Limo just looks stupid....unless you drive a limo.

Living in the North East, I like a very light tint all around for looks. A friend of mine even tinted the windshield (very light all around but still highly illegal) and the car looked amazing, even though nobody could put a finger on as to what had changed.

You ABSOLUTELY need it down here. My turbo has 35% tint all around. I don't think it looks cheesy at all. I like the fact that it blocks out a good amount of heat, 99% of UV, and adds a little bit of privacy as well.

Tinted windows is a must for any tropical or desert climate environment. If you don't like the shade of tints, but want 110% of the benefits, go with Huper optiks. These are the ****, literally. you can "tint your car, but not even notice you have them, but at a cost.

I live in Los Angeles and i personally hate driving a car without tints.
Especially a nice car which gets alot of looks.
I would rather be a shadow behind the tint than end up being in peoples pictures, or god forbid get seen doing something reckless by a relative or associate.

All my cars, and previously owned cars, except the '72 Vette and the Turbo, have/had 35% all around... I just can't get myself to tint the turbo... yet...

In South FLA a absolute must +it looks great. It keeps the surrounding onlookers from glaring at my "gorgeous" wife. First upgrade on EVERY car I buy.
