Estimate power for a modded TT
Estimate power for a modded TT
Im thinking of doing some mod(s) to my car and I'd like to know in advance how much power a TT possesses with the following mods:
exhaust
tune
headers
ipd plenum/tb
fabspeed CAI
evom BRV
Will I need to upgrade my clutch too once all the above mods installed? Thank you in advance for any insight to this matter.

I am in the same boat. I was going to do the following:
CMS Billet Compressor turbochargers with 68mm 7 blade wheels
- CMS (new for 2010) intercooler upgrade, including silicon hoses and hardware
- Werks1 carbon Y-pipe for 2010 cars
- CMS compressor inlet adapters (increased flow)
- Werks1 carbon air box for 2010 cars
- CMS exhaust manifolds, 3 into 1 equal length headers
- Tubi Style Race exhaust system
- GIAC high performance software proprietary to CMS
As you may recognize this is all Champion work. They were very honest with me (as were many forum members) - I dont like hearing "no" or "dont do it". However, after given it some deep thought, listening to the forum, and mostly, the words of wisdom from Champion I have decided to stick with:
1. Exhaust System.
2. Tune.
3. Intercoolers.
I have been promised this would equate to ~ 70 WHP on my 2012 Turbo S.
Champion has been working on the in and outs of upgrades for the 997.2 since it was released. They enjoy much support from the factory giving them a slight edge with respect to what can and cannot be done. The limiting factors are the clutch, the fuel system, and the PDK.
70 WHP is safe and they replicate the factory warranty should anything go wrong. In the future you may be able to "safely" add additional hp but at this point it is playing Russian roulette.
I think most people on the forum would agree - some will not. I am going to play it safe (for the 1st time ever) and follow the recommendations of those in the know. It will happen in the future but given the fact that the PDK is brand new as is the fuel system (I believe?) it will just take time.
Once I get the word I will be the first to slap on bigger turbos and bump it up to 650+ WHP but until then I will sit back and enjoy what my minor upgrades have to offer (which should be quiet interesting in itself). Now I just have to decide on Europipe or Tubi.

Fabspeed CAI would add a little sounds and or help the car breathes better? My buddy added this mod on his 997.2S after the tune, exhaust, plenum and he squares it's most effective mod? What about upgrading the clutch to accommodate all the newly found power?

I would say you should add around 80-100 hp...The air intake won't do much for you, if anything...Headers won't do much either...Might even lose power with them....I'd just do a tune and exhaust and call it a day for now...
J,
I would change that clutch because that hydraulic assist sux. I hate the feel of that assisted clutch, for that reason alone I would change it out. Cant wait to take a ride in it when its done.

Headers won't add much either. I would save that money and apply it towards a new clutch. You will be needing one soon with those mods.
Do I need new plugs? My car only has ~4400 miles.
Wow, everybody is all about increased power...what about an investment in improved suspension. This is really the "weak" part of the turbo so money spent here is definetely worth considering. My input is ECU flash, suspension and exhaust and save money on the rest for consumables ( brakes, tires, etc. ). Lot's of good info on what's best, but my input is TPC suspension, APR flash and exhaust is very individual.
I wouldn't say I lost power but I honestly didn't feel a difference with them on or off with the butt dyno...They gave the exhaust a different tone...Even Fvd website really doesn't even claim any hp...
