I'm looking for my next car. I'm trying to find a private owner manual car with good options. What should I expect to spend? Would it be better to wait until January? Is anyone holding out right now that has something I would like to purchase ??

So the requirements would be:
-6 Speed Manual
-No black
-Good options (i.e. sport chrono, full leather)
-Aftermarket stuff is fine

 

Definitely better to purchase in winter price wise. I think asking prices have gone up since I purchased mine early spring.

 

I recall the range being around 85k-95k when I purchased a 2007 a couple months ago. I wouldn't worry about timing as much as getting the right car. Another thing to consider is that 07's are running out of factory warranty so you will either need to act fast or get an 08 if you want the factory warranty.

 

My gut feeling is that it won't be long before we'll see these settle in the mid 60's.

 

I didn't notice a drop in price when I purchased mine last winter (I was looking at them for about 3 months). I was thinking the same thing, but I guess since people shop inventories over the whole country for best deals the cold doesn't effect sales as much. Snow up north doesn't put much of a damper on sales if someone is transporting it to Florida or Texas for example.

 

The 991 is right around the corner, you'll see people start to sell their 997's as they prepare to upgrade to the new car. You'll see a bunch more when the 997 owners decide they don't like what their local dealership is willing to give them on trade.

I'd wait... probably be some deals out there. Unless the 991 is a dog, then you lose. lol

 

Right now 2008 and 2009 (non S) Non-Turbos are going for mid 60-s (or so) so I don't think (hope) the TT's are going to be there soon (within 18 or so months).

 

also factor in the potential for the 997.1 to become the 'Supra' of the Porsche world when it comes to mods with ability to handle lots of power on stock internals. It may keep the price from falling too far. Granted they may have produced plenty for this to be less of a potential down the road.

I figure 50-55% of base price would be a good estimate after 5 years.

With 02-03 996 TT X50's asking prices of low 60's and 996 TT-S asking prices of high 60's/low 70's, it would be a while before you see 997 TT's in 60's...

It is also possible that we all underestimated the 996 TT's and there value might actually be going higher than 997 TT's

 

I too recently sold a 996 Turbo so I understand the different between asking and selling price being two very different things. 996TT are great but they are mass produced like the 997's. I think the 996TT's will settle in the mid-high 40's and the 997TT's about 15-20K more. Then you'll always have really low miles cars going for a premium and 100k mile cars priced way under the curve.

 

Smart buyers purchasing Porsche turbos always get the extended warranty when the car is bought new when ext-warr cost is reasonable . My 07 turbo ext-warranty goes out end 2012. Some go as long as 3 years beyond factory coverage.

 

We can all wish but I highly doubt it, if you look, low mileage 06' C4S is asking mid to high 60's. Yes asking and selling are different, I say you can knock another $5K off with a motivated seller. If that is your price range, keep waiting until the 991.2 comes out. Then it might be mid 60's.
