Helmet please

I am heading to track my car for the first time and they are requiring a helmet. Now, I have no idea what to buy. Can you guys suggest a good quality helmet to buy. Any brand name? Where should I buy stuff like this?
Thank you so much guys for helping a newbie.

helmets can be tricky fit so it is a good idea to find a local speed shop for trying out helmets. Sometimes motorcycle shops have some. OG Racing has a good website for all the various popular helmets

Definitely go and wear them as fit is key given different skull shapes. For my thick head, Shoei works the best. Once you choose the helmet, then look online as you get better deals.

Try the Motorcycle shops first.

Cheers.

you will need a helmet with a Snell SA2005 rating at the least as many groups are no longer accepting SA2000....don't buy a motocycle helmet as they are not acceptable at all...best to try a helmet on but for your first helmet I wouldn't spend a lot of money...you can get a decent Simpson or Bell for around $300...after you decide you like tracking you can look at Arai, Shoei and some of the better helmets....if you don't have a weird head you can go to Bell's website and read instructions on how to measure your head and the size of helmet that will fit the best and you can get an inexpensive helmet to start since you don't know if you are going to like it or not...some people don't...I wouldn't spend a lot on your first helmet...better to spend that extra money on a better seat, rollbar, harness and hans device

TD997TT is infamous around these parts
Some track groups are requiring SA 2010, which can will cost a little more than SA 2005's that are more often discounted. I had a Bell SA2000 helmet for about 10 years, equivalent to M4 model today, and liked it a lot. I agree with others that it's best to try them on to ensure a comfortable snug fit. Now have a Pyrotect carbon but I think the Bell is a better value.

Thank you guys for all the responses. I will be checking Bell's website and agree on not spending too much $ at first. I'm pretty excited to take my car onto the track for the first time. Wish me luck, and thanks again for all the help.
