911 TTS Cabrio Winter Tips for a Newbie
911 TTS Cabrio Winter Tips for a Newbie
I will be putting the are away in the garage for the winter at first snow. I wanted to ask if there is anything I should do prior? I have already given it a very good, through wash inside and out and polished and sealed all painted surfaces. I will be driving the car until the weather really turns at which point I will clean it up again and plug it into the Battery Tender. I would love to use the car even durring the winter on nice dry days. I know I cannot expect the tires to grip like they do in the summer, but I think it is good or mix up the fluids once and while and I don't think I can wait 3-4 mnths to twist the key!
Anything else I am not thinking about?
This is my first Vert, any special tips on speacial care for the top?

Definitely try to start it up every once in a while and take it around the block....warm up the fluids, etc. If you're going to let it sit for more then a couple months, I'd over-inflate the tires and put in some fuel stabilizer.
Oh...and whatever you do...DO NOT leave the top down....the fabric gets destroyed if it stays in the down position for too long.

If I may chime in...

I did plan on keeping the top up so as to keep put dust and bugs.
What if you have a hard top, doesn't the top stay down? Does having a hard top ruin the soft top?

And good for you. I am envoius of your situation. Don't know about Seatle but in NY on a snow day you have tons of Soccer Mom's running arouond in Land Yachts thinking they can drive "business as Usual" No need to risk the car or me in that. Plus the fact, its is not my DD as I will not work for work on many levels.
Any way-Enjoy yours! And be safe out there.

Of course you have your good days when the roads are dry and the snow is piled up out of the way. But if its been snowing all night its time to tuck the car away until the snow plows can figure it all out.
There is some debate as wether if you need the gas treatment for a few months. Better being safe than sorry. If you have one of those lighter Nickel Cadmium(sp?) Batteries for sure get a battery tender.
When I lived in Reno, being a native lad from Long Beach CA, it tripped me out how people would drive around like "Business as Usual". Needless to say after first snow fall you would see a lot more cars getting dinged up with dented quarter panels and bumpers. Forget about make chains and wires. Those aren't for people from Reno Nevada.
