Driving the garage queen !!!!!
Driving the garage queen !!!!!
I've had my heavily modded EVT700 for 5 years . It is by far the best car i have ever owned . I have pampered it , kept it maintained to perfection , driven it at 1-3 times a week to keep the systems flowing and enjoyed every moment of having this car . It has 13K miles .
Along the way PDK came out and I decided not to sell the Turbo but to try PDK in a 997S . I am glad i did . It's a great piece of equipment .
Recently i drove a 991S and almost bought the car . In fact i had speced an order . Theere were many strong features ion the new car but the one which made the deal was the improved PDK .
I traded my 997S thinking I would buy a 991S but changed my mind. I decided to wait for the 991 Turbo and then decide . In the interim I have my Turbo , my 11 M3, and as of yesterday a new Cayenne .
With only one 911 and the anticipation of the next car I have decided to drive the garage queen !!!!
For those who claim its best to drive the car fromk day one .. I disagree .
I loved this car for a long time and savored just knowing taht i have it and nourished those thoughts with 13K miles worth of drives .
So now the car is going to be a daily driver . I figure 6K miles a year (as I have other cars) and time to drive this car to get every bit of enjoyment and use for a car that I feel will probably be the hardest car i ever face selling or trading at some future point.
This is a huge transition .
Needless to say .. for those who remember me in this sectiion .. its good to be back . For those who don't I've been here a long time with this car just havent posted.

my 08 has 24k miles on it, used daily from april-nov, never an issue, still looks, drives, and smells new...i couldnt even consider getting rid of it for something else..its everything i ever wanted...enjoy the daily use...u will smile intensely
Awesome!
These cars are meant to be driven.
I bought mine with 60k km's on it, had some issues with the turbo vanes sticking which caused more problems (spark plugs got chewed up, etc.) after a service gone bad. Soon after I had to change out the clutch (normal wear and tear).
So my relationship was off to a rocky start - but since then, it's been smooth sailing... a daily driver. I've been slowly updating various components, making it perfect just for me. Every two months or so I fall in love with the car all over again. This month I'm updating the suspension and a few engine components, and in a week it's off for another 4 day road trip through the Canadian Rockies, to Banff (Lake Louise and back) - photo's to follow when I get back.
My turbo has taken me on many memorable road trips, even a few off the grid: camping (off into the wild on dirt roads).
These cars are powered by magic (I swear, often times I find myself with a grin thinking, this car is insane!), engineered with passion, and should be driven!
Enjoy it brother and never look back!!!

6k a year is "daily driving"?
Please, do not make yourself sound like a superhero, it is just
. All I can do is smirk. Now, THIS is "daily driving":

Sell? Then do not sell, how much MORE speed do you need, being in 55mph country? It's only bragging rights, in best case.

When I hear anyone saying something like "I did 2.9 in my GT-R/PDK Turbo" all I do is smirk, because these people did NOTHING but hold the steering wheel.

Skill my friend, that's skill!

Maybe someone should invent something for the right pedal as well, so that people can brag "I did 2.5 to 60", in straight line on dry asphalt having all my nanny systems on, just holding on to the steering wheel.
THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE IF YOU LIKE DRIVING and please, do not tell me that this guy is millionaire, if you have EVT700 Turbo + Cayenne + ... you can afford it, besides you have no snow (do you have rain at least?)

"what's the point of having a CAR if it sits there all gleaming..." and we do not talk about run-of-the-mill 997 Turbo here!

I have an 07 tt I bought used in jan '10. Had TPC do full suspension, tune and EP2/headers, and some wheels. Put winter tires on the stock wheels and use those in the winter. I daily drive (about 6k a year, I have a short commute). Took it to VIR and spent 2 days lapping. Car got a scuff or two, but as people say, its for driving. Drive it rain or shine, and only leave it home and take the Suburban if I think I have to go to work in prime rush hour in both directions, which is rare.
I love the car and envision leaving it to my kids. Zero interest in a 991 or PDK. I'd much rather get an older 911 or maybe even a Singer.
Great car. Nothing better.

Interesting you said that - I've been thinking as an addition to my 997tt, I'd like to pick up a 993 Turbo in a few years.... DAMN I LOVE that model!!!!!
No wonder their maintaining a residual price higher than the 996 or even comparable to the 997 if not more expensive.
That's a real drivers car!
Drool.... 993TTS!!! Only 183 produced - doesn't get more rare than this, well maybe, but this is damn rare ...yes please!
I'd swap to this in a hart beat! If I had the extra $$$

Welcome back! I definitely like this path more than the almost purchase of the Panamera. So a Cayenne is in the stable now too? Will have to hear more...I eventually want to make my 'other car' a Cayenne, just feels like the right combo with the TT.
Curious to learn more about how the PDK changed from 997.2 to 991. I've only heard the general "it's better" but haven't had a chance to drive it yet so eager to hear how that transmission has evolved.
My vote is you always keep your 997 tt. So much has gone into making it just right, especially with the clutch work you've put into it, the 6speed could become the ever-more-rare-to-find setup. So much fun in being that connected to the car. I personally can't get enough of the driving experience after doing the same GT2 clutch conversion...it's just TOO much fun to shift! Hope the tt stays in your hands long term, regardless of what the next porsche is.
all the best...

1) I like the new one better
or
2) The outgoing car has problems .
Regarding each
1) There is nothing that I like more than my Turbo . Yet !!!! 5 years and counting .
and
2) My car has been flawless with reliability
With my 997S I tradecit because number 1 failed . I liked the 991S more and still do . If the 991 Turbo does not impress in the same way I'd actually be happy because it would save money .
I have multiple cars and can only drive one at a time . I also had two 911 cars for a few of those years.
The entire car is a piece of "equipment" do it yourself travel from point A to B comes in the form of walking .
